I think to get it fixed in the future, video officials have to be full-fledged referees and make calls - whether that’s signaling for a penalty or waiving one off - every down in real time. Biggest improvement before next year has to be fundamentals. For a top 25 team, XP and FGs up to 45 yards have to be automatic. It’s crazy that we’ve improved this much by using explosive playmakers but can’t get out of our own way for the most basic parts of the game.

Or that’s the time for Casey to slip a block and get wide open in the flat. No reason to go 20 yards down field on 4th and 5.

Setting him up to fail. Call a checkdown to Fairchild for 5 yards on 4th and 5. Ballard is 100% locked in on the first option.
