Re: Shoe money trial
So...yesterday, my third-grader comes home from "wear your favorite team" day at school and tells me: Kansas cheats at basketball. I ask, where did you hear that? He says three of his friends said it to him. Tis the life of a Jayhawk fan from now on. Sad reality. Probably hurts extra bad ...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
Someone remind me why a shoe company wants to send a prospect to a college that wears their shoes and attire? Like why not just pay the kid/family $100k and let them go to whatever school they want. How much more is it worth to the shoe company? Does a Nike agent care if the kid ultimately chooses ...

Re: pre-season top 25 polls
This poll is pretty accurate. Just confirms even more that KU should not have more than 1 conference loss this year. Someone told me KenPom has us favored in every single game on our schedule. And I would guess that, if anything, KenPom slightly underrates us because of Dedric's year in residence (...

Re: The other trail going on right now
Southern Utah University economics professor Dave Berri countered, "Is that [realignment] supposed to be a bad thing? What difference does it make if they realign again? If the argument is realignment ends classic rivalries, I grew up watching Oklahoma and Nebraska play every year. Apparently,...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
Not everything in life is about increasing revenue. Revenue, perhaps not. But certainly, the viability of an entertainment product is pretty dependent on growing the audience. Actively turning people away because of motivations that are (at best) short-term, amoral and unwittingly racist and classi...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
Chad from Purdue is still going to hit up Buffalo Wildwings during March Madness when he finds out his team is in it come March. If they make it past the Sweet 16, he might buy a shirt. If they don't, he'll still watch a game here and there, and catch the Final Four, and learn a bit about the playe...

This guy is RSCI's #16 guy in the 2018 class (for reference - Grimes is #8 and Dotson #23): https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1054401716756537344 So: here's an idea of market for a fringe 1st-round type. This seems like a desperation move by New Balance. I highly doubt these types of deals w...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
Yup. 25-30 games would be fine with me. Get some of the money out of the sport and coaches will be paid less - all that will follow. The NCAA tournament isn't loosing it's magic. Fans will still follow their school. Isn't part of the NCAA tournament's "magic" the craziness of guys that en...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
Even without players being able to legally get money college is already as close to the pros as possible. That's literally what programs like KU strive for. Look at our facilities. Look at how little time the players (most of them) are actually dedicating to school. Very little. Want it less like p...

If it takes: A. Secret underground deals funneling money from AAU teams, shoe companies, boosters, what have you to get those fringe 1st round players or B. Making college basketball as close as possible to a professional league to get those fringe 1st round players Then yes, college basketball is ...

Oh. Great! And smart of New Balance to make it look like something other than a cash grab (even if that's what it is).

Good for him. More of those dudes should follow suit. I still cannot fathom a point of view that college basketball is better off without many of: Grimes Dotson Aldrich (#23) Withey (#29) Johnson (#24) T. Robinson (#25) Selden (#13) Embiid (#23) Oubre (#8) Diallo (#5) Newman (#7) D. Lawson (#31) Az...

Re: G-League -To help eliminate shoe trials?
I don't think "training" means that (unless you're seeing something I'm not). But yes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone like IMG packaged a year of physical/skills training with a crash course in Pro Athlete 101 (which colleges should offer, as pwhit and I actually agree).

Alcatraz actually is really, really cool to see, if you're doing touristy stuff.

I am, of course, rooting for the Dodgers all the way.
I would think that they'd be a popular pick, too, because seriously fuck Boston/New England at this point.

probably because Adidas doesn't want to burn that bridge, and the feds don't want their case of universities being the victims to be weakened edit: would also make sense given the defense lawyer's post-trial comments I would tend to think the prosecution's case would be blown wide open by any high-...
