Re: Shoe money trial
We are collateral damage in this dumb FBI investigation. Don't they need to be doing something else more important than this? Do these guys really deserve to go to jail over this? In my opinion the dirtiest mother fucker I've seen in all of this is Fenny Falagmne or however you spell it. Eh, I can ...

Re: Shoe money trial
It is not very fun that I am paying for a federal investigation and prosecution designed to make a federal crime out of breaking private rules the enforcement of which is unethical, immoral and illogical, which investigation and prosecution carries with it a nonzero chance of ruining one of the only...

Re: Shoe money trial
In a taped conversation that was not allowed into evidence today, Adidas' Merl Code and Kansas asst Kurtis Townsend discuss the recruitment of Zion Williamson, who wound up at Duke. In arguing for admission, a transcript was read by Code defense atty Mark Moore. (thread) Code: "Hey, but betwee...

Re: Shoe money trial
Kind of a side point, but I do wonder if Long, who is obviously new to university, says no to adidas extension based on this whole thing. Because if I'm not mistaken, that extension has not been finalized yet. And this whole thing surely isn't helping matters. No, but...think about the negotiating ...

Re: Shoe money trial
Well, it appears that compliance clammed up with the NCAA when compliance figured out mama was getting paid. So I'm not sure I'd bank on helpful back-channel communications with Indianapolis at the moment.

Re: Shoe money trial
If I'm following correctly, the alleged 60k has nothing to do with Kansas. There was an alleged 20k offered but never paid. I am curious if that will matter. If Maryland payed him and we played him, then it's us on the hook for playing an ineligible player. Maryland could also be hit with something...

Re: Shoe money trial
Gassnola said that he was told about the 60K. Silvio's guardian denied that it ever happened. U/A isn't about to say that we were screwed out of 60K. Maybe, like, their CEO won't. But you don't think their version of Gassnola or Gatti, when he's staring down a prison sentence, wouldn't? In any case...

Re: Shoe money trial
I'm sorry, but if you read those text strings and don't think Self knew exactly what was going on then I think you're being willfully ignorant. Why on earth would Self thank Gatto for recruits committing if he didn't know what was going on? Come on now. We are all smart enough to see what's going o...

Re: Shoe money trial
Yep and it is alleged that he received 2500 bucks. And if this is the case, we should be punished on terms with what has been judged in the past. Selby was banned for nine games for a similar amount - SDS plays his first game vs Villanova. I think a common error being made here is assuming that any...

Re: Shoe money trial
Perhaps the gap here is that Geezer is identifying anything that has been developed enough to be tied to KU, and the rest is speculation (albeit, in my opinion, reasonable and straightforward speculation).

Re: Shoe money trial
Seems like folks are looking at the nuances here an missing the big picture. There is proof Self was discussing recruits with Adidas folk and knowledgeable of the fact they were trying to influence recruits. [1] Forget what is actually ethically right/wrong - it doesn't matter. Whether or not the r...

Re: Shoe money trial
I’m not gathering a stake and tinder yet, but just saying hypothetically... Can I sue Bill Self if he defrauded KU and I paid for a rule-following team to follow? If a coach knew about it, then it is the coach doing the defrauding rather than a shoe company. I think I read on the back of my ticket ...

what would cause investigations into the other shoe company’s goings on? i forget how this all got started with adidas We know the public story - they turned some small-time fixer and uncovered a pretty big operation. As for the real story, meaning the politics and agendas and true motivations...I ...
