Re: Shoe money trial

I’m not gathering a stake and tinder yet, but just saying hypothetically... Can I sue Bill Self if he defrauded KU and I paid for a rule-following team to follow? If a coach knew about it, then it is the coach doing the defrauding rather than a shoe company. I think I read on the back of my ticket ...

Re: Shoe money trial

what would cause investigations into the other shoe company’s goings on? i forget how this all got started with adidas We know the public story - they turned some small-time fixer and uncovered a pretty big operation. As for the real story, meaning the politics and agendas and true motivations...I ...

Re: Shoe money trial

The NCAA needed to work harder to regulate and be fair in judgement. They failed and it’s out of control. We look to have been caught. You do realize this makes no sense: the maker and enforcer (and beneficiary) of the rules needed to work harder to regulate and be fair in judgments, they failed an...

Re: Shoe money trial

It sure looks like we are breaking the rules of the sport. I agree with the heart of the rules. I don’t like the organization that enforces them. If we have a link to the payments to DeSousa, we should loose our Final Four banner. Well, we will never agree on the first thing. That's ok. As to the s...

Re: Shoe money trial

I would think that the money would trump everything. At least that’s what I’m basing all of my optimism off of. At the end of the day you can always expect the masses to do whatever they gotta do to maximize their revenue even if it means looking the other way on corruption (which I personally thin...

Re: Shoe money trial

I think we deserve punishment from the NCAA. As long as other schools get punished for skirting the rules. But we are past that point...so either they put their foot down and hit most everyone or, what I think they do, ignore it and try to enforce/regulate more efficiently in the future. Did you gr...

It does not.

Re: Shoe money trial

I do think there is a way in which the other shoe having not yet dropped (I really want to torture metaphors today, apparently) is beneficial: If it is the case (and you'd be an idiot to not believe) that the same thing was happening across shoe companies, then I would guess that the NCAA might not ...

If you're gonna go with a Cruise, I suggest Tom.
Tomahawks are both highly accurate and relatively economical. If you're going to go with a missile, I suggest Cruise.

Texts between Kansas coach Bill Self and ex-Adidas rep show how high-level college basketball recruiting works The Kansas coach wanted Adidas' help, in part, because he believed Nike was helping Duke and North Carolina https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/texts-between-kansas-coach-bil...

Re: Cruises

I haven't been on a cruise, but it seems an awful lot like all of the bad parts, and only some of the good parts, about staying at a big resort. But I might be discounting the cool factor of going to several different places as opposed to just one.

Re: Shoe money trial

I think the steroid stuff in MLB will prove to be instructive as to how all of this will play out. KU needs to just say as little as possible and let the rest of the facts come out (specifically: how what KU did/was involved in was par for the course and not atypical or unusual). KU's best defense h...

Re: Shoe money trial

The problem is that the investigation here is designed not to find a smoking gun (like a text from a coach to a shoe company guy saying, "hey, give Recruit X enough money to pick my school"). Indeed, to torture the conceit, the bullet from such a smoking gun would blow the prosecution's ca...

Re: Shoe money trial

Is it really a concern though? All those texts are pretty vague. Money wasn’t discussed so the key issue still isn’t an issue? So what if they talk about recruits? Nothing illegal about it. Now I get we probably did some shady stuff but it doesn’t matter what people think it matters what people can...

Re: Shoe money trial

If my tone has changed, it's not because of any "law stuff" necessarily. It's just common sense that the closer Self and his staff can be shown to have been to the payments, the easier it would be for the NCAA to take a swing at us. My (relative) sense of comfort that nothing will happen t...

Meh. Not surprised and don't really care because I don't think the act of the recruits/families getting money is "wrong". ...but I suspect some people who refused to accept this has been going on for decades will be/act shocked. I'm guessing this is as bad as they've got on us. Thankfully...

Nothing in here is fatal, but it's disappointing that our staff was dumb enough to be even this close.
