Re: Chiefs Offseason 2024

He is free to think what he wants, and (within our laws and rules) to live how he wants. Me, personally, I would hope that guys on my teams have more savvy than to take up publicly for what a majority of people would characterize as misogyny. Even if you mean well, you should probably just not say ...

if they do debate, i won't watch. but they should have to.
And if Trump ducks the debates, should I assume you will vote for the guy that shows up?

Re: NFL Offseason 2024

I both understand ( vampires thirsting for profit on profit ) why the NFL is pushing the limits of user experience and don’t understand—you are making SO MUCH BANK don’t fuck it up. Cruise control and it’s year over year profit. I’m going to intentionally look to pirate and not spend on a single NF...

Re: Quitting my job today

I am getting a LOT of job offers. Plano/Overlander will be just fine. In the meantime, lots of Jeeping, lots of hiking. Did a badass 5.5 mile hike by Mt Rainier yesterday. 4 waterfalls, one huge one that you walk under. Good day. Which proves something I learned early that's not only true, but also...

Re: Quitting my job today

Far too often, companies treat their experienced employees as no more than an expense that can be easily replaced by a lesser expense and fail to realize the revenue generated by that experience. I work in one of the few IT jobs in a bank that generates revenue and as the lead on a team that would ...

Re: 2024

Results at the polls > polling. ❗️Trump below 70% in Douglas Co (Omaha) In addition to being a great proxy for swing state suburbs, Omaha (and the rest of #NE02) awards its own Electoral College vote Another positive sign for Dems after a run of poor polling https://x.com/brent_peabody/status/179055...

Re: Charges

The question is, will it matter? In what sense? Even if he's convicted, will he actually get jail time? Seems unlikely. Will it hurt his chances to beat Biden? Maybe a little, but he's still leading Biden in many of the polls. Trump has a legit shot at winning if Biden is his opponent. All fair poi...

Re: Charges

I also think the defense made a massive mistake with the jury by having Trump's political bootlickers not just attend trial, but make a show of themselves by coming in late.

The defense's BEST argument was that the prosecution was making a spectacle of things.

Cohen has pretty much pushed this over the "beyond a reasonable doubt" threshold for anyone not just blindly supporting Trump. I expected the prosecution to want to call one witness AFTER Cohen, to turn the temperature down a little bit and refocus the messy picture down to a simple fact ...

Maybe I’m old.
Maybe this is Biden fault.
But 6.50 for one taco is too much.
It's sort of food gentrification, right?

I'm old enough to remember when it was considered absurd that Christo-Fascists wanted to pretend that a fetus is a person. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53721526313_252700085a_z.jpg It’s sure a good thing for us, then, that the 14th Amendment doesn’t in fact seem to have any legal effect at t...

It’s Schrödinger’s Pandemic: it didn’t exist at all (as something Trump bungled), but also it is why Trump is blameless for his own disastrous economic and tax policies.

We're also only now truly digesting what a disaster Covid was for development, of both "soft" and "hard" skills. The entire cohort of lawyers who had 0-4 years of experience going into Covid are now grossly overpaid (and thus their rates way out of whack) with reference to their ...

Re: Chiefs Offseason 2024

Ravens and Bengals (both at home) is a hell of a way to start the season. Go 2-0 there and you're in complete control of the race for the #1 seed - which (based on last year) is very very very obviously something that is quite important to get. You can't at all otherwise count on being in that sweet...

Re: We Lost the Battle for the Republican Party’s Soul Long Ago

While the GOP pols who see fit to kiss the ring are a dubious collection of easily mocked figures, watching the “law and order” and “faith-based” party kneel before a criminal defendant in a case involving a porn star no less is another marker of how far things have fallen. https://x.com/tpm_dk/sta...
