Re: Shoe money trial

Reading a Matt Tait article where he interview an attorney who specializes in cases like this. Scenarios as follows... 1. KU and SDS come out of this scotch clean 2. KU comes out clean but SDS is ruled ineligible (the Cam & Cecil Netwon rule) because his 'handler' admits he took the cash even t...

Re: Shoe money trial

Reading more about this damn near every major D1 school has been mentioned in some way or the other. I don’t understand what the end goal of this trial is? To bring down the NCAA? To end the “shocking” practice of paying players? To make an even playing field? Well...the real goal is for some prose...

Re: Shoe money trial

What does "innocent" mean? I would guess that (a) Self has a lot more actual knowledge of this stuff than most people would care to believe, and (b) we haven't done anything outside the norm for high-major programs. Does B mean 1. We paid him in your mind. and/or 2. That's ok. What does &...

Re: Shoe money trial

I myself asked that same question and thought that KU would be fine...this is from Keegan’s article in regards to what happens if they can’t make a direct connection between KU but SDS’s guardian still got paid... “Not necessarily. The NCAA enacted a new rule in 2012 designed at closing the loophol...

Re: Shoe money trial

The NCAA can't say anything that would make me enjoy memories of that Duke game any less.

Re: Shoe money trial

God Save the Rules. And I really, really wish Bill would just come right out and dare the NCAA to do something. I have a bad feeling that the NCAA is going to do some chickenshit thing like say, "you're playing guys at your own risk, and a previous clearance won't save you if that clearance was...

Re: The 50 Best games of the 2018–19 College Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

I really don't like the timing of the Kentucky game. It feels...unimportant when sandwiched in among the conference games. Maybe "unimportant" is the wrong word. Less important.

We could always just offer more money. That would level the playing field, right?

Made the rules, enforce the rules, hide behind the rules, use the rules, benefit from the rules.

Re: Civility in politics

jfish, my impression watching politics in this particular election cycle is that people are paying less attention to the national noise and deciding on local issues from their own district/state. That is a big change from recent elections and probably a good start. Although there are teams at the l...

Re: I believe her

umm dude psych, I’m pretty sure you’re the one who hears those blatant lies motivated by political power-mongering and you desperately want to believe to be true. That's funny, because the only places I hear of people who see things your way are here and on the "mainstream" media. Everyon...

Re: I believe her

Honestly, my position on this doesn't go much beyond "someone this uncomfortable with transparency and unvarnished truth shouldn't get a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court." You won't believe me, but up until the 2016 general election, I hadn't cast a vote for a Democratic federal c...

Re: I believe her

I have seen contentions to that effect but no verification. What are you talking about? There have been a number of sworn statements that are of the Trumpian, obviously-false variety, the "wait, you're even trying to lie about this?" variety. I have seen nothing that could not be chalked ...

Re: I believe her

How can he lie when he is refuting falsified accusations in the first place? It’s not a lie when you contradict a lie. Basic logic. You are aware that he spoke more than one sentence, right? And that all of those sentences need to be the truth when you are under oath? A number of his statements hav...
