Could they? Sure. But it's hard when there's nothing like a union, and where an individual player's damages are necessarily pretty limited and short-term in nature.

Re: Shoe money trial
I missed this on Friday. In Adidas college hoops trial, everyone agrees on facts. Will NCAA take action? https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/in-adidas-college-hoops-trial-everyone-agrees-on-facts-will-ncaa-take-action/2018/10/05/406dd74a-c89b-11e8-b1ed-1d2d65b86d0c_story.html According to...

Re: Odd man out
As long as it doesn't hurt us too much on the other end, sure. But it certainly seems like Dedric is an indifferent defender (at best), so I worry some about smaller teams (which: they're all going to be smaller) abusing us a bit.

Re: Odd man out
No odd men out this year. Self has the luxury of yanking anyone who isn't hustling on defense from the game and inserting another body. McCormack will play a minimum of 15 min per game spelling Dok. It will be hell on the opposing defense because they will have to guard a player who has a nice touc...

Preach. College basketball fraud trial: We're at this point because the NCAA is ethically bankrupt https://sports.yahoo.com/college-basketball-fraud-trial-point-ncaa-ethically-bankrupt-191446567.html The real issue is: Why is this even a problem? Or shocking? Maybe for those who haven’t been paying ...

Re: Shoe money trial
Are we seriously not talking about this? Bowen said Dawkins originally mentioned they could get $60-80K from Adidas for going to Louisville, but it rose to $100K because "Billy Preston had gotten $100K" from Adidas for going to Kansas. This is a good example of why I’m not worried - based...

I agree with this.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 04, 2018 7:54 pm SDS did pass Mitch, but he passed him for minutes as the lone big, which Mitch is not suited for AT ALL.
Mitch will rebound, defend, and score better against other 4s, instead of against the other teams biggest player (which was often the case last year).

Re: Shoe money trial
Regardless, if Adidas paid the money back to under armour, then that's essentially the same as paying him to come to KU. It's not like the originally money was refunded completely, it just changed who the money came from. Sure - I guess I just read Geezer to be saying that Adidas gave SDS (or someo...

Re: Shoe money trial
SDS was not paid to come to KU. The money was to pay Under Armor who supposedly paid to have SDS go to Maryland. You believe a scenario where all that happened is that UnderArmour's money was returned, and that SDS went to KU for free? That was the initial story before his guardian denied getting a...

Re: Odd man out
Assuming Agbaji isn't even in the conversation, I think the most likely "odd man out" candidate is McCormack. Anyone who thinks he'll play over Lightfoot hasn't been paying close attention to how things work under Self. I must admit to still having a bad feeling about the possibility that ...

Re: Shoe money trial
Reading a Matt Tait article where he interview an attorney who specializes in cases like this. Scenarios as follows... 1. KU and SDS come out of this scotch clean 2. KU comes out clean but SDS is ruled ineligible (the Cam & Cecil Netwon rule) because his 'handler' admits he took the cash even t...

Re: Shoe money trial
Reading more about this damn near every major D1 school has been mentioned in some way or the other. I don’t understand what the end goal of this trial is? To bring down the NCAA? To end the “shocking” practice of paying players? To make an even playing field? Well...the real goal is for some prose...

What does "innocent" mean? I would guess that (a) Self has a lot more actual knowledge of this stuff than most people would care to believe, and (b) we haven't done anything outside the norm for high-major programs. Does B mean 1. We paid him in your mind. and/or 2. That's ok. What does &...

I myself asked that same question and thought that KU would be fine...this is from Keegan’s article in regards to what happens if they can’t make a direct connection between KU but SDS’s guardian still got paid... “Not necessarily. The NCAA enacted a new rule in 2012 designed at closing the loophol...
