Re: Where's the Pro-Life thread?
The speed at which our country is spiraling towards full-blown authoritarianism is mind-boggling.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Anybody else terrified there's a potential category 4 hurricane barreling down on the gulf and zero hospital beds available to treat anyone? Per reports, they're not even going to try to evacuate the covid ICU patients from New Orleans at this point...because where would they take them?

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Here in St. Charles County, MO, we don't believe in masks, and think our best approach would be to use our God-given right to own guns to simply shoot the virus dead. Pew pew pew In all seriousness, I'm guessing it's going to take young kids in ICUs (if they can get a bed after the next 3-4 weeks) a...

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
We didn't have zero cases in mid June but numbers were low. The spike is from the unvaccinated. We have more people vaccinated now than we did in June. We've discussed a little bit, but isn't this likely here to stay regardless of what % of our population is vaccinated? The vaccine prevents death. ...

Re: Conference Realignment..?
I get it, but the first time, as I recall, there was a couple of weeks where it appeared OU/TU and a couple others were gonna go to the PAC. MU/NU/CU and TAMU were in the process of bolting. At least this time, we've got a core of prgms that need each other, at least for now. And I start with the s...

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
My wife, me, and my 3 teenagers are all fully vaccinated. My wife just tested positive. Our friend is also vaccinated, and her two kids (not vaccinated due to age) were in town last Wed-Sat. My wife asked multiple times if she was okay doing things, and if so, would she prefer masking up (again, I l...

^^^^^ This. Because I can guarantee if B1G offers ISU, they're doing the same thing. Similar for Baylor/OSU and the PAC.

Re: We Lost the Battle for the Republican Party’s Soul Long Ago
Saw that this morning. Holy shit. If this doesn't lead to the appropriate use of 'cancelling' someone, I'm not sure what will. This P.O.S. should be immediately removed from office.

i know i’m supposed to “hate” everything republican and that i think that Biden is the second coming of Christ and is beyond reproach, but... i think it’s absurd that we’re now paying people that have kids, and that Biden wants to extend this payment beyond this year a tax credit is one thing, send...

Re: Lord of the Rubes - The Voter Fraud Chapter
Because we had no precedent for this happening, and no guardrails in place if it did. And if we had more than one party that acted in good faith, there would already be legislation in place preventing those things in the future.

The reasons they gave for voting no are just...lovely. Disagreed with referring to the Capital as a 'temple' of democracy, along with describing the events of January 6th as an 'insurrection'. J.F.C. You can take the stance you dislike most/all politicians, but there's definitely a ranking system. T...

Re: Dumbfuck in charge
They primary point of all of this is that Trump did things that no other president ever even considered doing, and for which our constitution and laws really didn't account. What happens if the first term president loses, but then uses his Congressional supporters to invalidate the election? How do ...

Re: Lord of the Rubes - The Voter Fraud Chapter
And how do we move forward? One side is, you know, actually trying to present and pass legislation to help 80+% of the people in this country, and the other side believes the government is run by a cabal of baby-eating pedophiles. It's not like we're disagreeing on how to spend a 3% tariff increase....

Re: Lord of the Rubes - The Voter Fraud Chapter
I know we joke about the current state of the QOP, but it really is somewhat terrifying what could happen in 2022 with the literally 100s of voter suppression laws being proposed and passed across dozens of red states. And I'm not very confident the current 6-3 make up of the supremes will overturn/...

The game that ended the home court winning streak in '88 vs KSU. I'm 14, and my dad and I are driving from Topeka to Lawrence (I think we were headed to Lawrence, I do know we were between Topeka and Lawrence on I-70) and the car breaks down. My dad had one of those portable B/W TVs with maybe a 6 i...

Re: NYAG - Grab your popcorn?
I don't know...200+ bills across the country seems like a pretty solid start to disenfranchising millions of voters and eliminating democracy in this country once and for all.
