Top 25 polls

Post by PhDhawk »

Blue Ribbon releases college basketball preseason top 25

https://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com ... on-top-25/
Personally, I would put Kansas above the Wildcats, but as long as Kentucky, Kansas, Gonzaga and Duke are in the top four — regardless of order — it is hard to disagree too much with any ranking this season.

Anyway, here is the rest of Blue Ribbon’s top 25:

Kentucky
Kansas
Gonzaga
Duke
Tennessee
Nevada
Virginia
Auburn
Oregon
Michigan State
Mississippi State
North Carolina
Kansas State
UCLA
Florida State
West Virginia
Clemson
LSU
Purdue
Florida
Villanova
Syracuse
Michigan
Virginia Tech
TCU

This year seems like it's going to be pretty top heavy. Nova is way too low

Texas fans are probably happy to be rid of Barnes.

I'm curious as to how Duke will do next year with all those very talented dudes.

2. Kansas Jayhawks

Key returnees: SG Lagerald Vick, C Udoka Azubuike, SF Marcus Garrett, PF Mitch Lightfoot, PF Silvio De Sousa

Key additions: PF Dedric Lawson, PG Charlie Moore, SF K.J. Lawson, PG/SG Quentin Grimes, PG/SG Devon Dotson, PF David McCormack

2018 finish: 31-8, Final Four

Why they’re here: Kansas has a more accomplished group of college players than anyone — but a lot of what has been accomplished occurred elsewhere. Dedric Lawson, now expected to be KU’s primary option, was a great player on middling teams at Memphis. Moore, who likely will get the first crack at point guard, was very good as a freshman on an NIT team at California. They’ve had a year to understand what coach Bill Self wants from them — to learn his schemes — so their transition to performing as Jayhawks will not be as drastic as, say, Travis’ at Kentucky. What’s separating KU from the top spot is a concern that Moore might not be equipped to provide what the Jayhawks are accustomed to receiving from their playmakers. They employed Frank Mason and Devonte’ Graham at the position over the past four years; both were first-team All-Americans.

Strengths: Physical power, frontcourt depth, multiple scoring options.

Weaknesses: Will the defense hold up at the point of attack?

Can't wait to beat preseason # 1 at their mini mall of an arena.

Team chemistry might take some time next year. I won't be surprised if all our guys are not entirely clicking until January. Lots of new guys. And then there's Vick. It will be really interesting to see how he performs next year.

Vick is going to do well or do nothing. There is no middle ground for him.

Yes. He either plays well and plays often, or he stinks and doesn't see the floor. Nothing else.

He wouldn't be here if he wasn't going to see the floor. My guess is he starts every game. That or gets kicked off the team in December (which I don't think will happen).

I think he's going to have a very good year and be an important piece for us...hopefully this roster allows him to do what he does best which is run the floor and be active on defense. He doesn't need to take a ton of shots or try to be a 3pt specialist because that's not what he's best at. Hit open shots. Find the open man. Play hard 100% of the time. The rest will take care of itself imo.

And Barnes is actually pretty damn good.

Geebus, It was sarcasm. It was funny. Tenn is ranked waayyy higher that Texas. It was funny, but now I've had to explain it twice. It's no longer funny.
