He definitely was this series, there is no doubt about that.

Dame is very underrated.

Sort of reminded me of this with all the trash talk that's gone on between dame and russ....

Russell Westbrook just won't win.
Dude shot sub 30% from 3 - and he takes a lot of 3's. He shot 36% from the field and he takes even more of those.
OKC is 4-12 in the playoffs with Russ as their 'leader'.

A year or so ago we had an argument that he was a shoo-in top 10 NBA player in the league and I disagreed. Remains the same now.

I think he's a top 10 individual player, but maybe not 1 of the first 10 players many would choose if starting a franchise.

Pg13 has consistently praised Russ for being a leader and motivator. Not only on the court during games, but also off the court with practice/training/off season stuff. His teammates love him.

Russ has averaged a triple double for several years in a row now....even if he's overly aggressive for uncontested rebounds that's still nearly impossible to do. That's why he and 1 other person are the only people to ever do it.

He does take bad shots. He does shoot too quickly. But his team is sort of designed for that. He and Pg13 are expected to take 35-40% of all the shots.

I do think this year he deferred a lot more to Pg13 and it worked until the playoffs when they both went cold.

Also, Portland is a bad match up for them and is very underrated as a whole. Especially after the Kanter acquisition. Nurkic is awesome, don't get me wrong, but he is so hit or miss with both effort and foul trouble.

Lol, no team is ‘designed’ for any player to take quick and bad shots.

Dude fired off the 4th most field goals in the league and wasn't in the top 100 in FG%.
He was 2nd in turnovers.
He shot the 2nd most 3 pointers in a season than he ever has and at sub 30%.

Then he just got OWNED by Lillard in every way in this series.

In the NBA it's only a bad shot if it doesn't go in. Unfortunately a lot of Russ' shots don't go in.

I love Russ as a player and as an individual because he's a good dude...but I'm not oblivious to his downfalls.

I still think it's awfully hard to say a guy who averages a triple double for 3 years in a row isn't a top 10 player in the league individually. Even if he's not 1 of the 10 best players to build a championship team around.

I don't think Klay Thomson is a top 10 player in the league individually, but he might be 1 of the first 10 guys I'd want to build a championship team around. He'd be my 2nd or 3rd pick because he fits so well next to many of today's superstars.

My favorite part is how Russ and pg13 are expected to take 35-40% of all the shots.

In other words, they’re two of the five guys on the court.

This is going to be unpopular.

Russ chases stats. Not unlike Wilt. Although Wilt was better at it.

I'd have to look at stats, but I wouldn't be shocked if they're in the top 3 duos when it comes to field goal attempts per game. In fact I'd be shocked if they're not taking more shots than most duos in the league. Lillard and CJ are probably up there too.

Not unpopular - true.
Russ is the chasiest of all stat chasers. His teammates have said as such.
Though Wilt didn't have guys like Harden, Durant and PGIII on his team.

Yeah, I too would be shocked. (Edit:if Russ and PG weren’t taking a shitload of shots)

Lillard is infinitely easier to cheer for.

I used to think so.
He definitely chases.
But over the last couple years i've come to like Harden better - he has made it a point to play better defense.

Dude is also shooting 44% from the field and 37% from 3 which are more suitable numbers for someone who jacks up a lot of shots.

Harden chases points. Russ chases all stats. Stays in blowout games to steal rebounds from scrubs to get his triple doubles. Etc.

Wilt won two titles.
