Looks like KJ is headed to Tulane. Strange choice, but I wish him well.

Seems like a weird choice to leave at all given the scholarship situation but there are probably some good reasons.

Juwan Howard it is for UMich.

That's quite a step down and an obvious risk.

One could argue a lot of coaching in college includes the assistants. If they did, it's not like Madlock and Mitchell don't have experience.
You have to figure Howard will have a few guys on his staff who have been around the block too.

They could have done better.

I don’t understand the need to hire within the family.

They could have done better. That program was rolling.

Mitchell left the staff...he was the X's and O's guy

The problem with former NBA players as college coaches, IMO, is that they expect players to be younger versions of themselves.

Wow! Obviously I was unaware of that. Very surprising to me. I'm wondering if it was an ego thing on Penny's part. In my opinion Mitchell was the key to that coaching staff. I'll be interested to see who replaces him.

Memphis doesn't play anyone other than Tennessee...they should win the AAC blindfolded. But without coaching an top tier AAU team will get killed by a well-coached NCAA team...they are an AAU All-star team.

Memphis doesn't have anyone returning.

Their recruiting class is the best in the country.

Did I see correctly that UK has three bigs on scholarship, and they're not even good?

My guess is there will be a couple of teams in the AAC that will be better than pretty good.
Houston and Cinci come to mind.
Don't get me wrong, the AAC is far from the ACC but I find it interesting when people talk smack and discount conferences.
It's been proven that the little conference guys can compete with the big conference guys come tournament time.
Go Tigers? Frankly I won't really care much about them until the tournament. Assuming they make it.

Might as well have changed free throws too. If you choose to take them at the top of the key and make them they will count as 2 points. How about dunks? They only count as a half a point.
Naismith's game didnt even allow dribbling so is that a gimmick, too?

That's a valid question twocoach. At the time it was introduced and adopted in to the rules I may have felt dribbling was indeed a gimmick too.
If you want to go there then why not also mention that "Naismith's (original) game" had more than 5 players on the floor, didn't have a shot clock, baskets counted as 1 point, etc. etc. etc.?
As far as what Naismith would have thought about the 3 point shot - who knows, he may have loved it, he may have hated it, he may have been indifferent. I was not a fan of it when it was first introduced and installed to NCAA basketball and NBA Basketball. I still feel it is a "gimmick". Just an opinion. Nothing more.
