You could make the argument that what KU needs is someone who has proven he can take a shitty program and build it into something competitive. Mike Stoops took over a 2 win AZ team and had them winnning 8 games a year in 5 years. He then made them irrelevant again before he got fired. I suppose you could hire someone like that to get the team back to winning ~6 games a year and then hire an even better coach...

Another argument against him is that he is a defensive coach who just got fired for his defense allowing more points so far this season than KU has given up despite being significantly more talented.

Both are true.

To play devil's advocate 1) 41-50 would be a huge success at KU, and 2) I doubt we're going to get serious consideration from any super-successful Division 1 coaches.
