I was in ks then training for track and tore my Achilles heel. No fun. So cold outside.

Now in Savannah Ga, today mid 70s (with the ac on!) tomorrow low 60s and an overnight low of 32! My poor orange trees and all their blossoms. Crazy temperature fluctuations here!

-1. 15-20 mph wind/s.
Two choices, Uber or walk to work. At the moment I am leaning towards the walk unless I can be convinced I will get frostbite.
Idiot me was debating on going to Phoenix this past weekend. Made a poor decision.

Gusts of 60mph here in SC Kansas today.

But this weekend nice temps of close to 60 with minimal wind.

Welp, this storm is officially pounding us in the ass. Been snowing like crazy, then came the winds.

Schools closed, I-70 closed, the pass is closed, our ski trails are closed, the road to my neighborhood is closed, might be stranded at work for the night.

Barometric pressure drops messing with tornado sirens here. It’s fun.

Stranded at work???? Any coworkers who need their trails freshly groomed?

If only!

That’s the funny thing - the sheriff and department of transportation and stuff are advising everyone to just get home ASAP. Schools went home early and just about every business in town is closed

...except, of course, for us! Management all went home themselves, but before they did, they asked me to stay late and hold down the shop.

Even though our ski trails are closed and guests are hardly even able to get here, we’re still staying open our regular hours. Which is to say, I get to be the one to brave this shit in the dark.

But I’m getting overtime for it lol. And if it’s that bad I get a lodge room, and the chance maybe some waitress or guest over in the restaurant is also marooned.

Actually, it could end up being fun. Perhaps my biggest concern is having to get gushered tonight off of the overpriced resort booze instead of slamming natties at home.

Think the front range might be worse.

Governor declared a state of emergency and called up the National Guard to help stranded motorists.

97 mph gust recorded in the springs, 80+ at DIA, 1000+ flights cancelled.

Prolly all the Texas transplants thinking they used to cold, and so this should be no problem to drive in.

But yeah it was shitty out today.

Water where it doesn't belong, and especially in vast amounts, is close to the worst.

The US government used to ask all civilians to be able to shelter in place for 72-hrs. The idea being that your government would come rescue you within 3-days.
But with so much bad weather now with the larger geographical events and higher populations densities, I think it best to consider disaster preparedness for a longer timescale.
Assuming you CAN shelter in place (ie, your house is still standing), the government recommendation is now 2 months of supplies. For most of us, that means storing extra food/water and getting something for lights/electricity. I love being able to rationalize new camping gear purchases as disaster preparedness!
