Smoke and Spice by the Jamesons is very good.
Barbecue Bible by Raichlen is good as well, although he's kind of annoying.

More for technique and method rather than history.

right on, thanks.

Basically I'd like an elevator pitch's worth of info on a few of the more famous regions and stuff.

KC
Memphis
Carolina
Texas
etc.

so when I say I love BBQ and some foodie gets all uppity on me, I can explain the differences and tell them to shut up and put some cheese on it.

KC---The best
Memphis---sticky spicy
Carolina---sticky sweet
Texas---dry AF
etc.

I'd be more worried about the pizza at arrowhead.

ohh man! Had some friends over a couple nights ago, so we did a bunch of wings plus a pork tenderloin.

As soon as they went on the grill, weather picked up, and started snowing and blowing sideways. I wrapped the grill in a couple towels to keep the temp up, which worked surprisingly well.

Smoked wings are sooo good, but the real gem was the pork. Savory, juicy, melt in your mouth tender. (actually imho a little heavy on the garlic, but let's not split hairs)

I take it as a good thing when there's so much flavor that no one even cares to put sauce on it.

Don’t get “nachos” at AFH. (Unless they’ve improved in the last couple years.)

That’s my favorite food. The Manning bros, not Danny, have a good bbq pulled pork nacho at their joint in NO.

I don’t know much about it. But I’ve been eating it for the past year at 801 Chophouse.

American raised "Kobe" beef. Mostly a marketing gimmick. I think you're better off going for USDA aged prime.
