Are any of these things actual peace agreements? Most of Trump's agreements really aren't agreements at all but "agreements to talk about making an agreement".
No. It's just affirmations of existing truths and the meaningless moving of an embassy
That's what it seems like. A lot of "I formally recognize you as a nation" stuff which is fluff.
Not necessarily - depending on the country. It was meaningful that was done (long before Trump) with Jordan and Egypt, direct neighbors with a history of war and not acknowledging Israel's right to exist.

But it's like the whataboutism that DC and Illy and others in general do, finding two things that have a similarity and then acting like both situations are exactly the same because of that similarity, regardless of how vastly different they are.

No 2 situations are exactly the same.

Let's see what is/was on our President's mind this morning that he felt like sharing with the world.

This was the very first thing he tweeted today.

I admit my ignorance. I have no idea what the fuck he's trying to express.

This was the second.

Really? It's the "only" way to stop "this"?

I'm anxiously awaiting the 3rd tweet. Stay tuned......

Re: “fast trial death penalty,” it made me think of the pro life thread.

Then it made me think of how “pro-life” mostly just applies to the issue of abortion.

Then it made me wonder: is that Trump’s kryptonite?

The moral majority religious right has held their nose about so many other conflicts of interest with Trump, and looked the other way about so many other issues that used to be sacred.

But how would they react if, say, Trump got caught saying some unsavory comments about abortion? Or worse yet, got caught in some Pitino-style scandal?

Would his supporters shrug that off too, or could that maybe be the Trump flaw that finally shocks their conscience?

The moral majority religious right don’t have a conscience. If they did they wouldn’t have voted for Trump in the first place, as he’s violated every principle that they allegedly stand for

yet the religious right themselves are the ones who have gone through such great lengths to frame abortion not as a complex matter of public policy worthy of nuanced compromise; but as a black-and-white moral mandate that cannot be compromised at all.

Would they still?

Could they still?

Mother fucker tweeted today and bragged yesterday about being given "the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award".
There is no such thing.

I think it is plain now that principles-based movements (like “right to life”, etc.) have been coopted. They are all now put to use to further policies and actions that are wholly in conflict with the purported mission.

Because they don't really care. Not on a broad scale.

The Republican party has done a great job using empty platitudes about family and faith and character and all lives matter and such and such as fig leaves to give people wholly-superficial ways to forgive themselves for supporting policies and people that do not at all line up with those principles.

The GOP has done a great job at making the R after a candidate's name the same as KC in front of a sports team. I root for KC teams exclusively because I happened to be born at KU Med. They made politics as much of a sport as anything else, and Karl Rove just happens to be like Belichick, skirting the lines as much possible in order to keep winning. I think family and faith are less at play then people think, just because many actually religious folks I know find Trump and his ilk abhorrent, while church on two Sundays a month crowd are rooting hard for GOP, and don't care about actual positions.
