Because profits are more important than lives. Think about that when you bite into your next sandwich, pork chop, chicken breast. Your fellow humans died for your “enjoyment”.
If you care anything about the welfare of those who suffer so you don’t have to, you wouldn’t buy any meat products except from local producers.
