I'm not as bullish on this team as I was last year's team after it all got put together, but, I still think this is deepest group we have had in quite some time. Maybe like since 2011. Power Conference talent up and down the board, although losing Silvio sucks.

Only hesitation on the team's peak is if Garrett, Och and McCormack make those steps to first team all league type.
It should be a nightmare squad, defensively. Size and length everywhere. Garrett should be fine against lead small guards.
Self's best defensive teams are teams that switch everything. He's going to love the small ball switching 1-4, even switch 1-5 if Lightfoot on the floor.
Beat me to it. Ability to switch and handle ball screens as a team is arguably becoming more important than having a rim protector.

Kansas was 52nd at defending the 3 last season.
136th in 2019.
96th in 2018.
221st in 2017.

Now take those stats with a bit of grainy salt as they have to go through a good conference schedule - but Self's teams have always dominated defending the 2 but struggled defending the 3.

Something about that shooting form ( :10 and :43 ) doesn't look right.
But Josh Jackson's form was odd and he shot respectable from deep.

Really, Ochai has a nice looking stroke from 3. With him it's mostly confidence. Also not much said about moving the line back but I think it had an effect.

Garrett’s, of course, is wonky.
Dotsons was too.
Hell even Brauns has a touch of chest push/forward lean.

Ochai and Moss from what I remember had/have good form.

Prettiest shots during Bill's time?

Ben, Devonte and Svi are at the top for me. Obviously Mario's was clean as could be, and Brandon was so strong that all he had to do was flick it.

And I've always liked the aesthetic of the little dudes who actually need to elevate to shoot, like Sherron and Frank.

I really liked Sherron's shot. He really elevated, it was always a smooth release and had nice arc on it.

My top 5 prettiest shots in Self's tenure.
1. Devonte - Just smooth everything. Gets nod because he was so smooth off the dribble.
2. Svi - Ball was always released high and a very quick release. Could get it off fast.
3. Sherron - For the things I listed above.
4. Ben - Best set shot. Didn't do too much on his shots, very compact but effective.
5. Moss - Textbook jumper, release was high, head was in the "window" and always followed through with both hands high.

Och's sophomore form is great, frosh form is not so great. Don't see anything wrong with Thompson's. Release is actually quick.

Ben and Devonte immediately come to mind for pretty. Brannen can't shoot if a defender is within 5 feet of him, so that doesn't count.

No one is worse than Marcus. Sometimes the ball spins sideways. Or not at all. And the release point is wildly different. I also assume Udoka doesn't count here.

Chalmers, Ben, Vonte i'd put up there.
You could have all sorts of awful shot candidates if we include bigs.

Perry had a really ugly shot too. Kind of started at his chest and came from there. But he was damn good.

That's what was wild about Cole's, though. It was horrendous, but also reliably good!

If hot topic is shots, Dotson is getting them up.
