If you put it in the crockpot, no.
But, it is one of the permanent categories on KCBS circuit, so absolutely it is, if you smoke it.

Ah, I didn't read back far enough.
The crockpot has done a ton of damage to pulled pork's reputation.

Pulled pork was pretty much unheard of when I started barbecuing. It was all sliced and pork cooked to the point where you could pull it was considered overcooked. I had a friend who was an officer at the American Royal for years. He brought us several samples of the top finishers one year. All sliced.
Now, it's rare to see sliced pork at a competition. I blame the internet and foodtv.

I should clarify, that pulled pork was unheard of in KC, not everywhere.

Yes, it can be amazing. I much prefer a light, vinegar based piedmont syle sauce to a heavy ,dark, sweet sauce on my pork.
Paired with a no mayo slaw (vinegar and raw sugar based).

Nothing out of a crockpot is bbq, no matter the meat. Not sure why that needed to be discussed but, here we are.

I agree that crockpot sauced meat is not bbq, but, living in a building, it still can be good.

I never enjoyed the vinegar based sauces. I tried to—as they were common where I used to spend time in the past—but having grown up on Gates and Bryant’s type sauces, I can’t convert.
As far as crockpot pulled pork, it is good. It’s slow cooked meat. But it’s not bbq.

Gates sauce is pretty vinegar-y. Part of why I like it.
