Re: Wordle
There are already copycats on the Apple and Google App stores. It is possible he could get those taken down.
He will sell eventually, but I think the not-so-obvious URL and simple design add to it right now.

He needs to develop some sort of variant on it, it's just too easy to have staying power.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 9:32 am There are already copycats on the Apple and Google App stores. It is possible he could get those taken down.

Link was in my OP: https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
It went viral a few weeks ago after I think Jimmy Fallon said he loved it.
Re: Wordle
I've seen it everywhere. I made a guess. Got two letters in green and then went totally brain dead. No idea what it could be.

Re: Wordle
Ha! figgered it out. Got today's word in 4 tries.

Re: Wordle
Gah, took me 6. I had the right idea of what kind of word it would be but guessed the wrong one twice.

Got very lucky with second guess. Don't know how Fish went from his 2nd to his 3rd. lol

Re: Wordle
It feels like MasterMind with letters rather than colors. well, plus they have to combine to be an actual word too.
Re: Wordle
I was 95% sure the A needed to be #1, and that I needed to clear the B (among D, L and a few other things). I couldn't think of great options (that didn't involve duplicating something that I already knew was bad), so I shot my shot. Pretty lucky.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 9:12 am Got very lucky with second guess. Don't know how Fish went from his 2nd to his 3rd. lol

Yeah. The first two moves are everything.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 12:07 pmI think that's where I get in trouble early sometimes. Letter hunting alone isn't going to cut it.

Re: Wordle
I don't want to post my current strategy on move 1 and 2 b/c I think it's fun for people to figure it out, but I think my current strategy is best for definitely solving the puzzle in 6, but not great for solving it in 3--which the latter requires a good deal of luck.jfish26 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 12:17 pmYeah. Re: Wordle
Helpful is a word with a lot of vowels to start.
Re: Wordle
Yeah, if you read around there are a couple "optimal" first words (which are hardly even words so much as relics of iterations in the English language). I don't use those, but I do have a few stock starters that are about what you'd expect (think of getting RSTLNE in Wheel, and add in a vowel).
