Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I am NOT defending psych - but she's supposedly not 10.
Meanwhile, I don't feel she's "immature" as a supposed 18 year old.
I'm wondering why psych would think I would/should.
It doesn't matter how old she is. She was disrespectful and got what disrespect gets you - embarrassment. I hope she learns from the experience - whatever her age may be.
I can and will be respectful with my response.
I agree it doesn't matter how old she is but it seems you made a point of assuming she was a 10 year old child and your commenting in regards to it - I found to be interesting.
Regardless, I'm still a bit confused as to why you feel she was disrespectful. You did mention he is (was) a Navy Seal, a disabled veteran, and a U.S. Congressman, but as I basically said in my reply, I feel that doesn't mean he isn't (nor should be) immune from criticism and being questioned - which you took/take as being "disrespectful".

I very well could be wrong but she didn't seem to be embarrassed.
I don't know what she took away (learned) from her "experience" (interaction with him) but I have a feeling it was mostly if not completely positive - and not negative.
As I said earlier, her tone was disrespectful. She was in full "gotcha" mode, which I don't think is appropriate for her age - whether 10 or 18 - the setting, nor for the individual she was addressing. Given the #WokeGotcha climate out there, I'm sure she got lots of positive reinforcement for being a brat. That doesn't make it right.

i’m glad piling on a child makes psych feel like such a man. so superior

such a joke
Would you want your ten year-old talking to adults like that? If so, I feel sorry for her and for you.
1) i don’t have a 10-year old
It was a hypothetical.

2) i thought you were convinced her folks put her up to it?
If she is ten, then I think they did. If the reports that she is actually 18 are correct, then I'd be more inclined to think she came up with it on her own.

3) i would have zero qualms about a child of mine calling out an elected official for their statements. those official work for us, and thus should answer to us…or did you conveniently forget that part?
There are appropriate ways to "call out" those in authority over us. This was not one of them, especially not for a child. Even as an adult, I would not speak to any elected official that way.

4) who us supposed to be the mature adult in that exchange?
We agree there. As I have said, I don't think Crenshaw responded appropriately, and he deserves criticism for it.

I thought that was horrible and said so at the time. Not a good example for his kids or anyone else’s.

I guess I'm not that concerned about an 18 year old girl being polite. What she does has no impact on my day. Not sure why she's the focus here. Crenshaw is the publicly elected US representative. He's the one representing the people, he's the one with power and influence, he's the one who's involved in important policy decisions. And that should have been something easy to handle and he handled it poorly.

Republicans know that if more people vote they will be out of power. They are doing everything to ensure that minorities and young people don’t vote.

If they truly support democracy they will be going out of their way registering people to vote. Even one-tenth of the effort they expend to restrict women from accessing healthcare would be sufficient

Obviously that was very stupid for Mitch to say but a perfect example of a whataboutism would be for me to respond - Come on, Biden has multiple gaffs every day.

As a proud KU alum, I like to think of what Sara Robinson would have made of this young woman's (if she's 18) question. As the wife of an elected official, a governor, I'd think she would have understood that asking questions of those seeking electoral office is expected.

As a woman who was quite educated in a time when many women were illiterate, I'd think Sara'd be proud that this young woman is asking an astute question. As one who was quite involved in politics, during a most contentious era and who left the land on which my favorite university was founded, I'd think she'd understand the difference between the political world and that of academia.

As a female writer who was published in the mid 1800s, I'd think she'd applaud the young woman for the erudite sounding question. And as a woman who survived several of Quantrill's raids, I don't think Sara Robinson would appreciate the indication by some that standing up for principles is "disrespectful."

But then, I am a proud female KU alum.
