"...but Yes and Rice impressed in last summer's scrimmage" will be a nice refrain as the internet deviants and malcontents call for them to stop riding pine while Dajuan and McC play a combined 78 minutes a night.

I felt that way prior to the scrimmage.

I think Yes starting at the 2 is realistic.

Rice starting is a bit more unlikely but he's probably battling McCullar and Gradey for the 3 spot. All 3 are first year (at KU) players. So he's got a shot. Crazier things have happened.

I honestly think a day 1 lineup of:
DH
Yes
JW
KJ
Clemence

Isn't totally unrealistic.

It just makes me curious is all. I had considered both to be 2nd/3rd tier in the rotation picture in my head, which was built on basically nothing to be honest since we aren't seeing anyone play yet. I am hoping that everyone in those lower tiers looks like they should be 1st tier guys because I want KU to win another national title. That was fun and I'd like it to happen again.
Well that post was not directed at you. And it does make our fan base fun. But those scrimmages are played with around a 10-15 minute running clock per half. Both teams scored in the 80's yesterday.

The fact that Matt Tait, and other media members even show up, let alone keep box scores on their phones just shows how hilarious our fans are.

I don't think so after yesterday.

Both Wilson and McCullar got a DNP-CD. Sounds like they are in Self's doghouse. Probably time for a players' only meeting at Henry T's.

McCullar had just arrived yesterday correct?

And Wilson is in Orlando on vacation.

Just kidding around obviously. Happy to have him.

Wondering if he can play the 4 so JW can slide to the 3? He's not much shorter than JW.

Yeah, that sounds exactly like when Rodman left Chicago and then everyone saw him on WCW Monday Nitro the next night.

I would consume coverage from our players getting up shots at the local Y if a beat writer was willing to provide it. Summers are LONG, especially after the NBA playoffs end and before football starts.

I wouldn't mind a lineup of

DH
Gradey
Rice
JW
KJ or Clemence.

Harris and Wilson are pretty much guaranteed starting spots. Clemence and Adams are fighting for one starting spot and Rice, Yesefu, Dick and McCullar are fighting for 2 starting spots. I love the competition; should lead to a very aggressive summer of self-improvement.

KJ really isn't a 5. He's a 4. Eventually maybe a 3.

So he isn't just fighting Clemence/Udeh for minutes at the 5. He can absolutely play the 4. Jalen can absolutely play the 3.

KJ might play the 5 next season. But he isn't locked into that being his only position possibility.

If KJ and Clemence are 2 of our best 5 players they will both start. They can very easily play together.

I still think Adams is on the Marcus Morris path and will want to leave KU being seen as a 3.

If he develops into anything close to that then KU is better for it. Sounds awesome!

so it feels like MJ Rice is 4th out of the group of himself, Jalen wilson, Kevin McCullar, and Grady Dick. but all 4 of those guys could be used in a lot of different ways

Rice being 4th (right now) is probably the most likely depth chart ranking....but at this point it's a toss up between Rice Gradey and McCullar. Any of the 3 could emerge because none have had any time with Self at this point to earn it, which is what all 3 will have to do. If someone earns it they could overtake the other 2. None of those 3 is a "lock" for anything.

JW is clearly 1st of that group and the only "lock".

If we play our typical 8 or 9, it's likely going to be DH Yes JW Rice Gradey McCullar KJ Clemence and Udeh. I don't see Cam Zuby or Cuffe jumping anyone. The order and minutes outside of DH and JW are still up for grabs. They'll get to earn their spots this summer.

I love these types of seasons where there are a lot of unknowns and guys having chances to earn their spots.

Wilson
McCullar
then the other two fight it out

McCullar is a grown ass man with multiple years of experience in complex Big 12 defensive systems. The other two are true freshmen.

The other 2 are also more talented than him offensively. We are replacing a lot of scoring.

TT has a complex "defensive system"?
