Albums

Post by ousdahl »

Can we start another music thread, but this one specifically to the creative medium of an album?

With the modern age of playlists and online streaming, I feel albums are kind of underappreciated any more. But a collection of different songs in a particular order to achieve some more cohesive thought is just so cool.

I've been road tripping for the past couple weeks, which is a great chance to listen to albums end to end. A few of my favorites I listened to all (or at least most) of:

and of course, all the stuff that might instead belong in the Dark Star thread:

I was also disappointed I couldn't find The Chronic end to end on Spotify.

AXS had a documentary on the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Really good.

I listen to this one every six months or so.

Right on! Paul Butterfield wails.

What’s the angle of the documentary?

I know he/his band were the impromptu backing band for the infamous Dylan Goes Electric show at Newport folk festival.

His guitarist Mike Bloomfield is one of my faves. I didn’t listen to it this particular road trip, but the bands “lost Electra sessions” is my top blues rock album of all time.
