I don't think those statements contradict each other. Dick could be the best 3PT shooter in the 2023 Draft, and we still might not have enough 3PT shooting. It's a perimeter shooting game right now.

Kansas attempted 19.8 3 pointers a game last season, 265th in the NCAA.

They won the National Championship.

That said, yes, there absolutely needs to be that threat with any good team. It’s just not “a perimeter shooting game” right now as our top 2 teams ( 2020, 22 ) in the last 4 years haven’t attempted more than 20 a game.

Feels like defense rebounding and efficient offense still wins basketball games. 3pt shooting is nice, but not something you should have to rely on

I agree, particularly with the 2nd statement. But, I never argued to the contrary.

Feels like dick and clemence are the kind of guys teams will be terrified of leaving open on the 3 pt line. Wilson is a proven shooter already too, tho sometimes streaky. I can't see 3 pt shooting being an issue for this roster. Feels safe saying those 3 will all play a lot this season and are the outside threat that is gonna open up the court for us

Dajuan and mccullar are gonna get a lot of wide open looks by being seen as the lesser shooters. Those 2 just need to be serviceable, which I think they've already shown they can. They are gonna get open shots, just knock an acceptable amount of em down. Don't think that is asking too much. Same goes for yesefu/rice/peffitord/ everyone else getting minutes

This team is built to be a good 3pt shooting team. It might actually be a strength. Should be one of the better shooting teams in the league. The other obvious strength is versatility

What I'm more worried about with this team could be establishing a presence around the rim. Whether that's consistent low post play or penetration to the rim. But our overall defense and shooting should be stellar

I said this a lot last season, but we are gonna really miss McCormack now that he's gone. He played through injury and that slowed him at time, but he was one of the most underappreciated guys we've had. Until he bailed us out and won us a title

KJ playing wing in the clips posted today by the KU hoops Instagram account. Dude is going to play everywhere 2-5.

KJ as a 2?

Seems doubtful.

Although he seemingly can guard all 5 spots against most teams.

(I also have no clue how you determined what position he was playing based on those clips...he throws a nice oop to a big, but he could be the 4 in that lineup. Hard to tell who is on which team... in that particular clip, imo, it appears he is playing the 4 with JW as the 3.)

It's already been decided that KJ is a big, bro. Try to keep up!

The 4 that throws an entry pass from the corner, relocates to the wing, then throws an alley after driving middle. Call him a wing or a 4, but he's clearly going to be playing outside as Self has indicated.

This is why I don't engage with you. You're dumber than pdub.

Coming from the guy who just said KJ was going to play the 2....

I'll keep calling KJ a 4 or a power forward.

You're free to call him whatever you want.

Excellent answer -- it's really got me thinking! Let me run the numbers and I'll get back to you ASAP!
