Of all the portal guys Rice is the only one I'm disappointed about. Clemence seemed like a good kid with some unique skills, Martin would have been a greta story and Pettifu tried hard and did their best, but they didn't move the bar. I was hoping Rice's athleticism would allow him to make a KJ like leap into the starting lineup. Hope is not a strategy of course.

Rice is going to be really good for somebody next year.

Our staff will find someone. A junior/senior transfer that it 6'7ish can shoot and guard would probably be a better fit for next seasons squad than even a much improved Rice

Hoping we get a combo guard transfer as well. Think yesefu but with better size and point guard skills

Otherwise were banking on freshman to fill that 2 guard role

MJ didn't want to play college ball to begin with.

MJ has a higher ceiling than the other transfers - if he can stay healthy. Sometimes you gamble on a guy's health and lose. Other times you win (see Keyontae Johnson).

I don't see in Rice what everyone else seems to.
I think the physique makes people think he's better than he is.

Couldn't shoot, couldn't move, couldn't defend.

He's probably our worst guy who got minutes to transfer. Clemence provided something. Joe was athletic and shot OK, Bobby was, well Bobby.

But I never got MJ like I never got Bobby.

Bobby controlled the ball fairly well, and, while he didn't add a lot...he usually didn't detract a lot.

Yes.....I never argued for more Yes (or more Bobby really). But MJ was completely and totally lost each time he entered...and appeared to have no real grasp on any of it other than trying to score each time he was in...within seconds.

That being said. I would have loves for MJ to stay. I thinknhe has a very high upside. But..nothing I saw showed that he warranted extended play this season.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

So two combo guards who's outside shooting is clearly not a strength (yet). Nice.

4* McDowell sounds like more of a shooter

just for the sake of chatting -

what if KJ remains the starting center, and still plays the majority of his minutes at the 5?
