Absolutely.
It was well down the shitter and they tried to turn the ship around but it was too late.
And now it's just going down the shitter ( to me ) but at least the lights are on so we can see it easier.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I've long agreed with the title of the original thread ( that has the most replies of any KUBB thread here ) which has brought us into so much contention.

I can only speak for myself, but I think (and hope) that we're really only mad on the edges of the argument (and that neither of us really enjoys how often the argument finds those edges).

I only get "mad" when his holier-than-thou 'tude comes through, which isn't all that often.
Fish can sometimes write with condescendence and, I don't think this subject, which is far far more subjective than others, warrants it.
He's done a better job recently recognizing this instead of discrediting and minimizing a valid take on the sport that is different than his.

To his credit, his posting/writing skills are elite enough to be able to have several distinct tones.

A player option? Can you even do that
If he transfers again next season isn't he going to need a waiver or sit out a year

He would be lovely to have on offense, but this is a shitshow recruitment for a guy that makes us worse defensively

Udeh has crazy high defensive potential

Free market and all that.

If you mean incentive for the NCAA?
Well, they'd have to be even more dedicated to establishing amateur sports to it's foundation rather than running as a business whose main intention is to grow.
I think the tough part there is the "they."

It was Hoover vs Vestavia Hills.
The stadium held over 10,000 people and it was full.
I meant less whether you’re sure there were 10000 people there and more whether you’re sure every last one of those players were Certified Amateurs, but I think you knew that.

With such an apparently high profile game, how do we be sure not a single one of those fans (among other characters) ever said or did or gave anything that might compromise the amateur status of each of those, what, 80 or so players on each team.

Or heck, how do we know none of those players ever actively sought any such benefits.

Especially cuz among all those players and fans and even coaches and such, what’s to suggest they all wanna preserve some sanctity of amateurism, rather than just wanna win no matter what?

…besides, you know, just making a point to NOT wonder any of that, and just kinda assuming some sense of amateurism cuz it makes you feel good.

but where? that was one of my points

Generally, some sorta economic talking point like “the demand will create the market” or whatever.

With as many kids with pro athlete aspirations, and with as many agents and wannabe agents and agents to be, not to mention handlers and hangers-on and various other types, that surround recruits - even the non-elite ones - it just seems like the means will follow the money.

So, perhaps, if college decides to double down on some sorta amateurism, to the exclusion of money, then the money, and the talent, will go elsewhere.

Or something.

But I guess count me among the crowd that’s OK with putting the under-the-table money in college sports now on the table, rather than effectively encouraging recruits with pro aspirations to consider anywhere BUT college.

At least in some vacuum of college athletics.

If we wanna talk getting away from the shameless monetization not simply of college athletics but of abso-fucking-lutely everything, maybe we should at least do so on the pols bored.

I want him.
But it's now becoming closer to the excitement of the Celtics signing a player.
It's cool but not nearly the excitement to see new freshmen come in and follow their careers at Kansas.

It's now more business.
Kinda explains why I didn't care for Remy as much as other players. Or Dick last season.
