Plus he is Bill Self which means not only is he a “recruiting” mastermind but a coaching savant.

I get it.

Kewl! We have all these great players. LIke last tournament, I'll go ahead and assume/expect us to be a #1 seed and lose to an 8 or 9 the first weekend.

Or maybe like 2022 and 2008 we will be a 1 seed and win the NC?

Probably something in-between.

A true KU fan should be able to list every Jayhawk player in that bottom photo even the guy with his back turned to the camera with his warmups still on.

I wouldn't expect them to lose their coach for the tournament this time.
Plus I would expect 1 seeds to lose to 8/9 seeds sometimes.

Moving on......

Seems Baylor got better. I can't keep track of who is staying and who is leaving which/what teams but I have to assume Dennis wouldn't go to Baylor if he isn't going to start for them.
How is Baylor better? They lost almost everything from last year.
Who's Dennis?
"Better" meaning they got better by adding someone who was the MAC player of the year and averaged 19.5 a game with 5.8 assists - regardless of who they had or didn't have before he committed.
That just means they got better than they were the day before, not the year before. Who knows if the MAC player of the year is an upgrade over who they lost from last year.

It's still great Kleinmann took off his warmup so everyone could see his name. A+ branding.

Basically only 7 players played that game.
Sherron played 34, Kaun 21, Aldrich 4.
Rush and Chalmers 40+.

Wasn't that him that hit that shot at the end of regulation? Or something like that

I love how that pic makes Sasha look like he's nine feet tall.

but yea, put me in the "we're number one because Bill Fucking Self" camp.

if the media's overrating anything, it's All-American jewel of the portal transfers and returning upperclassman starters more so than freshmen.

or - and maybe a little guttermetery myself - if we ARE overrated at number one, it's cuz we're loosing our two best scorers from a lineup that already struggled to score last year, with our three big returning upperclassman starters being maybe sorta offensively limited, and banking on the thought we WILL be able to fill that scoring void largely with transfers and freshmen?

Its the bill self factor. I personally would give uconn the edge for being preseason #1, because they just won a title and have a big group of good players coming back, and they've already played together

But, KU brings back 3 really good players. And added a bunch of really good players too that. So they voters see that and think "they is no way bill doesn't turn this into a dominant team"

Per Mike Vernon, it sounds like maybe Chris Johnson won't be going to KU; didn't show up on campus today and took references to KU off his social media.

I think we've wondered this. He is pretty buried behind a lot of good guards with more experience

huh?

I just looked up his twitter, and he still has @KUHoops in his bio, and himself in a KU jersey as a profile pic.

As recently as May 26 he retweeted this...
