Stock up on a liter of high quality balsamic vinegar. Even though as a multiple it’s more expensive than the cheap stuff the difference is pennies per serving. Whisk together the olive oil and the balsamico, a pinch of oregano and you got yourself some high end salad dressing. I have also “over toasted” some cubed bread, tossed with olive oil to make instant croutons.

Dang, I have balsamic vinegar, didn't think to use it.

I've lived here for over a decade and eat a fair amount of fish, but I've never heard this "rule" before. Maybe because there's no way in hell I'd eat a raw oyster, fish/sashimi, or ceviche, whether the month ended in "er", or not?

From the comments:

This is up there with gas station sushi ….

Oyster is like phlegm in a shell.

This is why I never go to St. Louis anymore.

I have to drive through St Louis a few times a year. Always as fast as possible.

I ended up in the hospital several days after eating a raw oyster. Some docs said it was the oyster, some said it had been too long.

I still eat them occasionally. Rarely Sashimi. I'm a big fan of ceviche. Also steak tartar and carpaccio.

"Also steak tartar and carpaccio."

I won't eat that(s), either.

I’ll eat damn near anything (except certain tree nuts)

But oysters have just never appealed to me. Phlegm in a shell is right…assuming that phlegm also tastes like decaying seaweed, and usually has sand in it too.

And, if you have to smother it in hot sauce just to enjoy it, what’s even the point? Just put the hot sauce on something that actually tastes good in the first place

Don’t eat oysters in Missouri.

I’ll eat oysters up here a few times a year ( from Maine or nearby ) because I know they are fresh. And I won’t eat large ones. I don’t smother them in anything—dash of lemon juice and the mignonette sauce. They are ok. Someone else has to order them and I’ll say sure.

They just aren’t something I like to start a meal with. They’re more a 3 pm summer day what the hell I’m already drinking here deal for me.

So had my first "smashburger" last night....and...I mean...whats the point? you take a patty and smash it down so it's thin and dry? why? definitely not better than a regular burger? Maybe I'm missing something

Oysters rule.

Smash burgers are ok if they're not overcooked. A little crispy and juicy. I don't hate em.

A. Did I say peanut allergies are a laughing matter? EVER?
B. Correct, I don't find "stupid, made up, millennial names for kids with purported peanut allergies" is a "laughing matter".
C. Yes, seriously.

P.S. Kids I am related to and/or I have personally cared for that have severe food allergies are named Nicolas (Nic), Benjamin (Ben), and Matthew (Matt). For whatever that may or may not be worth to you.

Then why are you posting memes making fun of peanut allergies?
