*flame suit on*
KSU has been the better team compared to KU so far.
Self reset expectations. The streak is what it is. I would rather get my knocks and lows in early and be playing my best ball going into the real tournament.

Re: Race to 15!
And West Virginia beat KU at home. What do those results have to do with their games against KState?
Re: Race to 15!
Nothing except a glimmer of hope. Of course results of other games mean nothing. Especially aince everyone plays better against us, particularly with the blood in the water this year. Its now or never for most pf the big xii if they want to beat us.

Re: Race to 15!
TCU with two very good PGs on the court will challenge State. If Texas would have been more patient, the Longhorns could have won the game last night in Austin. They made questionable shots in early shot clock possessions late in the game. They would get within 2- or 3-points and rush their offense and then be down by 6 or 7.

Re: Race to 15!
Ya Texas played not well. Didn’t execute, no apparent game plan, lots of dumb live ball turnovers.
But still, statie never really pulled away. Yeah they won but riding a 1-2 possession lead isn’t exactly dominant.

Re: Race to 15!
That's Texas nearly every game I've watched of them. That's Shaka-style.

"KSU has been the better team compared to KU so far."
For sure.
But no Udoka, De Sousa, Garrett and Vick for stretches.
If any team besides KU experienced those kinda losses, they would be .500 or worse in the B12.

Re: Race to 15!
No other team in the big 12 regularly gets the kind of players Kansas does either...or has the same level of elite coaching...or has the best college home court advantage...those things are why the streak happened in the first place.
So I'm not going all "poor us".
SDS is Self inflicted.
Injuries happen.
If we lose the race we've got nobody to blame but ourselves...and tip of the cap to KState who also had to overcome injuries and a crappy start to their conference season.

Not pertinent.
There's things you can control, which is recruiting/coaching/fans, and then things you can't, injuries/leave of absences.
Bad luck is bad luck.
Not to say that we haven't had some good luck along the way ( Durant and Blake Griffin come to mind ) but this season is unlucky.

Re: Race to 15!
We were ahead in the game when Durant rolled his ankle.

Re: Race to 15!
Kansas State dropping one game of six outside of their trip to Lawrence would hardly qualify as a miracle. They aren't some unbeatable juggernaut.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:54 am We need a miracle now. I'm not sure we're capable of running the table, and even that may not be enough. Too much has gone wrong this year. We've played too poorly.
Either way, it's been a historic ride.
Re: Race to 15!
No nuance.
Anybody pay for kenpom?
Somewhere might have the % chance of KState losing 2 of their remaining games AND us running the table? We need both to happen.
I'm sure the % would fall into the category of miracle....maybe 15-20% chance?

Keep in mind we play them head to head at AFH, plus they have one more game remaining than we do...which is an extra chance at a loss. I don't think it's far fetched that they go something like 4-3 in their last 7, which would mean we could loose a game and still get a share.
The thing is, with 5 teams with 4, or fewer, losses, we really should win out, or for sure not loose more than one to make sure one of those 4 other teams doesn't pass us. That's the main thing because I think KSU going 6-0 in non-KU games seems unlikely...though obviously not impossible.

Re: Race to 15!
Is it a 20% chance? I was guessing and being generous. I don't know where to look for those projections because I rarely pay much attention to them. Especially since I'm beating kenpom is GTS!
If you want to know what I think the Kenpom (or whatever) % chance is that we win out AND KState has 2 more losses I'd probably say the computers would give us about a 8% chance....but I'm just guessing.
Don't be sensitive because I used the word miracle. We don't need 2 pages debating whether it'll be a miracle or whether it's just highly unlikely.
I'm not giving up hope, but we're in a bad spot.

Re: Race to 15!
I wouldn't even define an 8% chance as a miracle.
More in the 1% range.
We have much better than a 1% chance to win the B12.

Re: Race to 15!
For me a miracle would need to be orders of magnitude less than 1%.
Winning the lottery is a miracle (<<<1%)
Getting your name drawn out of a hat for a free lunch is not (~1%)
There would be a lot more saints than there are if we go by 1%.

Re: Race to 15!
Statie's only conference loses without LB2. They could be 10-1 or even 11-0 with himself.
