It’s a classic.
I haven’t seen it since high school.

But hot take that’ll get some riled:
I don’t think until maybe the late 60s early 70s people realized that film wasn’t theater so they all overacted. They speak abnormally/unnaturally. Not to say there aren’t grand stories in there and it’s a marvel to see the stunts sometimes pulled to get a shot but woof the acting.

previews look good, with a decent cast
didn’t make it halfway through the first episode

if you’re gonna halve a boat load of subtitles, you’ve gotta mix some action in…i don’t watch a movie or tv show to read
I'd stick with it. It gets very, very good. And, personally, I am finding the subtitles to be a massive help in keeping the various players and factions and motives somewhat in line.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

lol at the Nolan movies
"Another problem: thin TVs have thin speakers, usually firing out the back."

This has been a huge problem for me. I bought a new TV for the Super Bowl and the sound on it was fucking terrible. I dug out an old sound bar from the basement and hooked it up just so I could have some decent sound.

I could fix most of my problems if I buy another a/v receiver and a multi-zone amplifier with phoenix connectors so I can hook into all the built-in speakers in the house. But that's another in a long line of expenses that hasn't prioritized itself to the top of the list. My house is too fancy for my budget. First-world "problem" I suppose. Some day.

Best picture front runner.
Gotta be.
Wish they made more of these and less of The Marvels/Aquaman 2.

Change of pace here.

Is anyone here old enough to remember when Fairlyland drive in Grandview started showing porn on the outdoor screens?

Started enjoying spending the night at my cousins about that time.

i was more entertained by Wonka, but i’m also a massive fan of the original (and story in general)

Since we lost power we downloaded a couple movies while at work to bring home and watch in the dark.
One such movie was the Roadhouse remake you're talking about.
I fell asleep. The parts I watched were fine. Seemed like a formulaic movie that was mildly entertaining.
