Absolutely, he did. Can't be a 2 year starter, playing 30 minutes, and not play a huge role in it. I just don't think he's even close to making an "all-streak" team. He was never more than option #3 for any team he was on.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:16 pmI agree with you, but, weirdly, Elijah played a huge role in keeping it alive. Well, without the "blackout," the streak was over.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:23 pmAbsolutely, he did. Can't be a 2 year starter, playing 30 minutes, and not play a huge role in it. Well, how many games can we nitpick over the years and say without so and so's performance in this specific game, the streak is over.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:25 pmWell, without the "blackout," the streak was over.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:23 pmAbsolutely, he did. we took Ucla out of the record books for conference titles.
Let's go for their consecutive national title mark.

Re: 14 Straight
Probably a few, but only in years of ties. Just the timing of the game, and the fact that we were down by so much and seemed way out of the game. Then Elijah happened.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:40 pmWell, how many games can we nitpick over the years and say without so and so's performance in this specific game, the streak is over.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:25 pmWell, without the "blackout," the streak was over.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 2:23 pm

Granted, we lost our last game that year to Baylor, so we probably would have still been OK if the Baylor game meant a tie or no tie. But, I honestly can't think of a single performance that was more tied to the conference outcome than that one. ISU/KSU fans still get pissed about it. lol.

Rush can’t dribble.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 1:59 pmHe played the 3, but I wouldn't really say he was better suited for one of the other. If you had a guy like Jackson at the 3, Rush would be a fantastic option at the 2. Not to mention the length that team would have defensively.
Re: 14 Straight
I agree, but the best 3 perimeter defender in the Self era were all on that 08 team. I need a 2 guard that is a 3 and D guy. So Mariojfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 1:37 pmSteals tell...as must appeal to you...only a small part of the story.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 1:34 pm Offense:

Chalmers wasn't even the best defensive player in his own fucking backcourt (in fact he was probably third).

Would you include Taylor/Johnson in that list?NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 1:31 pmIf that's your basis for picking that position, I'd take Rush over both of them.
Self's best teams had 2 guys who could distribute. Chalmers/Robinson/Collins. Collins/Taylor.
Mason/Graham.

Re: 14 Straight
Doesn’t Mario hold one or a few steals records at KU?
That was yet another part of why that team was so dominant. Instead of another team even getting to keep up, we were taking away possessions and going on runs.

Re: 14 Straight
And while I love Devonte, man did that team have such a thin margin for error.
Re: 14 Straight
Than Rush? That's a joke. He regularly guarded the other teams' worst offensive players. It allowed him to be aggressive and grab steals. The steal numbers got him on the all D team because voters look at the stats. Sliding your feet and challenging shots isn't sexy, so Rush didn't get the stats or accolades, but any fan of that team knew Rush was the better defender and it isn't close.
Re: 14 Straight
Nah, than Vonte.
I think Rush was slightly better than Chalmers.

Re: 14 Straight
All of those guys (Rush, Chalmers, Robinson, Arthur, Wright) were excellent defenders. I miss those guys.
Re: 14 Straight
And while I agree Rush > Chalmers on D I don’t think voters just voted on steals...Big 12 awards are voted on by coaches—they know basketball. And Chalmers was tenacious.
Re: 14 Straight
Was just thinking about how the 2012 team had 6 losses before the tournament began. If only our guys this year could play defense like those guys did. I hope we are not ranked preseason no.1 again for a while -- it seems to be horrible luck for us.
