I think Shaka see's the future. I thought I saw something about him and Vanderbilt but I think it's just his agent trying to see if he can get him out before they give him a bus ride out of town. UCLA is looking at Cronin Cinn U and Jamie at TCU. My guess they are already wondering why they fired Alford. We can only hope that Texas takes the NIT and they keep Shaka.

Buzz going to Texas A&M is kinda a mix bag. Just got Va Tech going but I think he getting paid.

lulz. They already tried Dixon's former boss and that was a fail, so why not try Dixon, who couldn't win where Howland did.

Shaka had better be damn sure that lining up another job now wouldn't screw with his buyout.

He's a charismatic guy and will get a decent job again. Maybe his best bet would be to do TV for a while and collect two checks. He and Nick Wright could do a show together, something like "Great Minds Think (and Look) Alike".

Fairly lateral move. But he's getting paid and is from Texas. He'll kill it there. They'll be a force in no time.

Kind of amazing what happens when schools make a bad hire and it hurts them for multiple years. Some don’t recover like Indiana and UCLA. Some do recover like Kentucky and UNC.

Shows just how impressive Kansas has been over the last say 60 years. Not many bad years in there at all.

It's more than just bad hires, right? It's cheap hires. It's a lack of commitment to the program, generally.

Howland's productivity fell off a cliff after about '08. They probably should have fired him sooner than they did. Not sure what happened to that guy. Went from 3 sraight FFs and 30+ win seasons to very mediocre. Hasn't really gotten it going at Miss. St. either.

BTW, speaking of Mississippi schools, I checked because I didn't know. Doc is tearin' it up at So. Miss. -- at least by So.Miss standards. From 3-20 his first year to 20-13 this year.

Wasn't he fired because he lost control of the team off the court?

Good point. I mean, Dixon is ok. But he's not going to get you much more than what Lavin, Alford or even Howland to an extent. They needed to have a home run guy. A guy boosters could get behind. Instead they have an average maniac as their coach.

25-12 and 23-11 over the last 2 years and being a 5 seed this year is not getting it going at a school like Miss St? Ok.

All of this, and: the money is there to make a home run hire.

Although, I don't know the internal politics and economics of the UC system. I guess it's possible that, with Cal's athletics department essentially insolvent, UCLA cannot make a big splash (even if funded privately).

Dixon leaving his alma mater says to me he thinks he found TCU's peak.

Similar to Hoiberg.
