Coastal Notes/Game Thread

Post by NewtonHawk11 »

5 days away from first Night game at The Booth!

1-0 KU against 0-1 Coastal Carolina.

Coastal having to move HQ for football to Greenville, SC to avoid hurricane. Not their first time in the last few years so it shouldn’t be a big deal to them.

They lost by 7 at home to Eastern Michigan in a game they were up 10-0 in 1st quarter, then go out scored 30-13 from that point on.

This is their 3rd full season at FBS after being FCS power for many years.

KU opened as a 10 point favorite and has stayed that way.

Coastal seems to run spread and they like to throw it. Should be a good game for experienced secondary to step up and be challenged by them. Their QB threw it 43 times last week. 2 TDS and 4 INTs.

Not sure on defense and hard to gauge performance against EMU.

Kicker seems to be good. Hit 3 FG. Ranging from 35-53.

KU should win. Defense can pounce on errors of their pass-happy attack and offense should love the ball with Pooka leading the way. KU should be able to learn from inconsistencies and be better on offense, especially against the blitz. That’s where Indiana State got back into the game was constant blitzing and getting pressure. KU has to shore that up.

Coastal is getting help from other universities in South Carolina during this storm. Practiced at a HS on Monday evening. Clemson Tuesday night. And Furman last night and today. Have been using weight room at North Greenville University as well. Cool to see all those schools try to help out in a time of need.

KU has the chance to go 2-0 for the first time since 2011.

Stanley is the starter, no more "OR".

A good article about CB rotating to stay fresh. All 4 corners can play at a high level so that's nice they are able to stay fresh because they will need it come conference play. After Defense had his pick-6, he sat out the next series due to a scheduled rotation.

Stanley is not a good QB. It's really that simple. Absolutely no touch on his passes

Jeez. Of all the guys to lose on a wheel route. Think you'd want to keep a close eye on their best player, huh?
