You still think the Lakers are going to be fighting Portland for the 5 seed in the West?

10' = 120"
7'1" = 85"

So, just...casually...in game, 35" vertical.

At 7'1".

Just...casually...in game.

Fuh-reak.

That's your narrative, not an actual fact. He was blocking a shot by Bill Russell. I doubt that was done casually but yeah, the head to the side and all must mean you're take on the mentality of a play more than 60 years ago is accurate.

Why do you feel compelled to be such a cunt about even the most unimportant things?

Wilt was brutalized by other teams to marginalize his impact. He thought of retiring before 1962. Celtics forward Heinsohn said: "Half the fouls against him were hard fouls ... he took the most brutal pounding of any player ever". If you watch the UNC championship game, you see the genesis of what became hit and deny type defense to counter him. He was a consummate stoic putting up with that crap.

Further, while he scored more than 4,000 points in 62, “he was on the hardwood for an average of 48.53 minutes, playing 3,882 of his team's 3,890 minutes.” Pretty incredible. Phog Allen and Chamberlain together created the modern game of basketball. And, true to form, the three point line is one more assault against his impact.

Didn’t Wilt high jump 7’ (or close to it)?

Anyone trying to deny or diminish his World Class (even by today’s standards) athletic ability is an absolute fucking clown.

For my money:

Best basketball player = Michael Jordan

Best athlete = Wilt or Bo Jackson, but a heavy lean towards Wilt. Wilt was an absolute freak of nature.

Wilt is bar none the greatest NBA athlete and possibly the greatest pro athlete. Jordan was a great player who was fortunate to be the right guy at the right time. Some times the stars align and a cultural icon emerges.

The teeny, little guy in the middle here, being held up by one arm each of Andre and Wilt, is, of course, the 6'2", 250 lb. 7 time Mr. Olympia.

This is 6' 6 1/4" at the Drake Relays, I believe:

Can you imagine what Wilt would have done to the NBA had he been the one to enter the league when Jordan did? Goodness, he would have destroyed everyone.

Kansas should have won multiple titles with him, but other teams were allowed to hold grab and punch. Today, the NCAA wouldn’t have cleared him unless he played for UNC Duke or Kentucky. Much more fair. Sigh.

jesus Sparko, don't say that!

next thing you know, the NCAA is gonna give us another notice of allegations that somebody forged Wilt's 6th grade report card!

You still think the Lakers are going to be fighting Portland for the 5 seed in the West?
How are your serious playoff contending Pelicans and Detroit Lions doing?

They are doing as well as you'd expect teams missing their best player due to injury to do.
