I don’t see us over Virginia at the moment.
But yes, if those teams above us start loosing, and we win 2 or 3, we got ourselves a 3.

Which is much better than the 7s and 8s some were predicting a month ago.

This year is going to be a pretty clear test of the stated principle that it’s wins that matter. My back of the napkin math is that only seven teams have more Q1 and Q2 wins than KU.

Having them anywhere below a 3 right now means you’re penalizing them for having eight Q1 losses. Which are their only losses.

Michigan State just lost to Rutgers after beating two top 10 teams in their two previous games.
MSU is now 13-10 and 7-10 in conference. They have 3 more conference games. Home against Indiana and a home and road against Michigan. They probably aren't going to be .500 in conference and they could be as many as six games under .500. People still feel they are a tournament team.
Not too sure how if they finish what I project will be 8-12 (9 and 11 at best) in conference but perhaps a good showing in the Big 10 Tournament might help them.
Regardless of my feeling they do not deserve to be in the tournament, I have little doubt they are one of the 64 best teams in the country - and could cause problems for top seeds.

Meanwhile, we have teams such as Bellarmine, Eastern Washington (or Southern Utah), Northeastern, Wright State, Norfolk State, Bryant, Nicholls, Texas State, and Grand Canyon who all have very legitimate chances to make the NCAA Tournament.

If you have a loosing record then you have no one but yourself to blame for not making the post season.

No clue why I had Rutgers on the brain.
Only thing I can think of is maybe it's because when I was looking at MSU's wins and losses I noticed they beat Rutgers by 23 and then about 3 weeks later Sparty lost to Rutgers by 30.

Palm has Iowa (18-7) a 2 seed.

Kansas (18-8) a 4 seed.

Both have the same amount of Q1 wins. Kansas worst loss Oklahoma State. Iowa’s worst loss, Minnesota (13-12).

Iowa 5th in Kenpom, with a slightly tougher schedule.
5th in NET as well.

But Kansas has JUMPED to 10th in NET - so a 3 seed is much more feasible than I thought regarding a big metric they use to seed.

Only way we should end up worse than a 3 is lose to UTEP and the first game in the Big 12 tournament.

Can/will someone please remind me why we are playing UTEP - with I assume nothing to gain by doing as such.

So we don't have almost two weeks off between games.

I mean, it's pretty obvious should be a 3 right now. If they had to split this week, this was the way to do it.

Don't get the Iowa love. They're good, but similar records and worse loss, don't think they are 2 spots better than KU.

Probably should have schedule 2 games to be honest.

Iowa tougher schedule, one more loss, same amount of wins.
We have crimson and blue colored glasses - Iowa is a good team.

They are good, but 2 seeds better? Curious on the tougher schedule argument, KU is 10, Iowa is 52. Iowa 254 in non-con SOS, KU 109.

KU has played in 3 more Q1 games than Iowa.

That all amounts to something, but it ain't Iowa 2 seeds better.
