What service to your community actually looks like. Well done by these officers. I wish those AZ cops cared as much about human life as these cops cares about a dog's life.

imagine first responders pulling up to the scene of an auto collision.
The driver is trapped under a burning vehicle and screams "please get me out of here!"
rather than grab the extinguisher or the jaws of life, the EMTs and firefighters stand idly and reply, "well maybe you shouldn't have been speeding."

If one police officers drowning after responding to a boat in distress justifies them not having to attempt to save anyone in the water in distress then I propose that police officers stop pulling people over for speeding since dozens of officers are killed each year as a result of being hit by cars after pulling people over. I like to speed but I don't want to put any officers lives in danger so it's the only reasonable solution.

The assumption that they were applying some sort of logic may have been where you went off track... oh well. The amount of "Fuck that guy, he got what he had coming to him" that goes on in this nation is so gross. The stunning lack of empathy and lack of expectation of service to the community by officers is just sad.
Some people suck. I need to accept it but I don't want to. Then I have to shelve my own personal empathy for the plight of those that are suffering and expectations of a basic level of behavior by those given the power to protect and serve and I cannot bring myself to do that. So I'll just continue to be sad that I even have to argue with someone over such a disgusting lack of empathy or responsibility by a police officer.
I’ve pointed this out before. Mich is a real evil motherfucker. Like shit stain on humanity.

Because he was crazy and/or on drugs? That's my guess.
Watch the video. The cops are being nice to both of them. Then he suddenly just hops over the fence and asks if he can go for a swim.

Did you even read your own article? They didn't jump in the water, the dog was stuck under a bridge. They used a ladder to reach the dog.
