I imagine this week will be the beginning (or, after Marcus's announcement, continuation) of the roster shakeups, with transfers and draft declarations and such pending.

I've made the Selden comparison since mj rice committed. I also was one of the only people that DIDNT think mj rice would be ready to contribute a lot coming in as a freshman. He looked like a raw physical athletic wing

The reason he will be better as a sophomore than freshman Wayne was as a freshman is easy. Rice has already had a season getting coached up by self and the staff before having to play a big role. Rice also had the luxury of older experienced players like mccullar and Wilson to learn from

i don't know if it is public knowledge. but i would be curious who the top nil earners were on our roster. and how much they made.

A lot of players have already entered the transfer portal. We may not get any commitments for a bit, but we should at least have an idea who's leaving before too long

Sophomore Wayne Selden was actually worse statistically than freshman Wayne Selden.

Rice will be better than sophomore Selden too then. I guess it wasn't until Seldens junior season when his game took a big step forward

for whatever it's worth...

Mj might project as more of a "3" than a "2", a la junior Selden.

underclassman Selden at the 2 was sort of out of necessity, I guess. But next year, we have Dajuan, plus (as of right now) Bobby and Yes, plus 3 freshman guards who may contribute, and if so, will likely contribute at the 2, which makes the Selden-like MJ more likely to get run at the 3.

Junior Selden was a "3".
He lined up with junior Frank Mason, sophomore Vonte, senior Perry and junior Landen.*

*I understand now - sophomore Selden more of a '2'.
Yea, I guess, but Vonte played 18 MPG vs Oubre's 21 MPG so kinda?

Agree 100 percent on rice as a 3. Selden always should have been a 3 as well

Speaking of Gradey and NIL, this was pretty cool.

yea, it's weird.

but, at least that's an outlier, right?

cuz, generally speaking, a player's production tends to increase with experience.

with the freshman-to-sophomore leap often being the most significant.

I think Selden was way ahead of Rice. As expected - Selden was a top ten recruit IIRC. Rice somewhere in the 20s.

I just don't remember Selden ever looking as slow as Rice.

Selden and rice were pretty similarly ranked. Top 20ish. Low ranked 5 stars. Frindge McDonald's all Americans. Both were just big strong physically imposing guards. With kind of raw unpolished perimeter games

Selden was rsci 13th. Rice 27th.

So no, Selden wasn't low ranked 5 star or fringe McD AA

it's hard to draw much from MJ this year, especially in comparison to Selden.

I mean, one got big minutes right away (even if cuz of no other choice), and the other got the short leash treatment in between injuries.

I guess I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt to a dood like Rice, who has the size and build and is lauded and high upside but we've hardly seen yet; over doods like Bobby and Yes, who we've seen for two seasons now but still haven't done much.
