Predict which Chiefs playoff game Butker either kicks a game winner (and basically gives everyone a fuck you - I'm not as bad as you think I am and you shouldn't have worried about me) or misses a game winner (and basically everyone gives him a fuck you - you are as bad as we thought you were and we were right to worry about you).
I'm going with the Super Bowl.

IMO…it isn’t just Buttkicker. It is the whole ST. What game is Toney going to fumble? What game will Goldie Locks not handle the snap properly? What game will Buttkicker boink an extra point?

The Chiefs are already operating on a razor thin margin and cannot afford ST to not hold up their end of the bargain.

We can’t find a kick returner who doesn’t f things up. We have tried four or five dudes.

Yeah, I am at the point I would rather the returner just get as far away from a punt as he can.

Take our chances with wherever the ball ends up

I'm putting my Sparko hat fully on.

Chiefs will be called for 8+ penalties for around 100 yards resulting in multiple first downs against the Raiders to try to balance things out.

Mahomes has been too good for refs to matter, except against Cinnci, but Chiefs won't get beneficial calls anyway. The best thing for football would be for Buffalo to never host playoff games until they get a dome.

One of the best things for football would be to never play a game in a dome.

I agree with Gutter - though I can see the other side of the argument as bad weather completely changes game plans for some of the best teams ( in todays NFL ).

Buffalo is miserable. Montana's last game on concrete hard turf convinced me it was the exception.

I keep seeing all these pundits lamenting player safety after Monday. The Buffalo in the room is the permafrost game ahead.

The Chiefs trying to return any punts just makes no sense at this point. The risk/reward calculus just doesn't support it. I wouldn't even bother trying to fair catch anything...is the worst case scenario (getting pinned deep) really that bad to begin with, such that it's worth the fumble risk? I say no.

Daniel Wise, former Jayhawk, signed the Chiefs practice squad today. Kinda cool.

This is infuriating:

Toub says Chiefs won’t back off returning punts after fumbles: ‘That’s not the answer’

https://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/k ... 17472.html
Toub said the team’s philosophy would remain the same with punt returns: KC would work with its players to catch the punt, and when a return was available, they’d return it.

“You’re not gonna just fair catch everything. That’s not the answer. That’s not the answer,” Toub said Thursday. “The answer is to keep working, trust you guys secure the football. It’s across the board. We have to do a better job on ball security everywhere.”
In the story, Jesse lays out the primary issue: whatever miniscule chance you have of a gamebreaking return, (1) the benefit is muted a bit by having Patrick Mahomes, and (2) that chance is massively outweighed by the likelihood and magnitude of catastrophe.

This shouldn't be Toub's call. Get your house in order, Andy.

To be fair to Toub, special teams have only been responsible for every loss this season.

Right. Just know your lane. You make many hundreds of thousands of dollars to coach special teams, and your unit has sucked mondo ass this season. Now isn't the time to be puffing your feathers out.

I am willing to let him take his talents to Vegas, but only as a gambler not coach.

I still think, ultimately, you try to catch the punts - despite all the awfulness, I think there still is an advantage to doing so.
But if anyone is within x number of yards + y more because our special teams suck : fair catch.
