Doherty was going to be a victim of the good ole boys club, regardless of what he did. (With almost zero chance of any other outcome).

KANSAS has not made a bad basketball hire in 125 years.

I disagree.
UNC was loving their hire that first year.
They just couldn't stand missing the tourney 2 years in a row.

Doherty needed to make the tourney and maybe win the first round -- and then I think he'd have been back with his keeds.

And i'm sure Dean was in roi's ear often after ( and during ) that 2nd year but I don't think he'd ( roi ) have stepped in if Doherty had just gotten back to the tourney.

So, KU was out of the blue blood club from 2002-2008.
Ever heard of Danny manning
Of course. Fish made statement its a stretch being a blue blood only having one title in fifty years. My comment simply a response to that. It’s just math based on what he said.

Y’all are funny.
But there was never fifty years between titles Illy.

Lol. His post says one in 50 years. Weird he understood the jest in my post and doesn’t feel the need to try to force bad math at me, as you are attempting Cunto.

UCLA won in 1995...which is more or less the same thing as us winning in 1988. It counts...but doesn't do enough to keep you there forever.

Bad math? There was 20 years between 88 and 08. And can the ad hominem. You can contort 1952 and years between championships a lot of ways if you want to denigrate fans and the team, but there were a lot of FFs and conference championships there too. And a math whiz would have defined the extreme as 1973-1988. A fan would say we have never gone more than 36-years without a championship throughout the history of organized basketball. But there was the Wilt triple OT game and Glory Road in there at least

here....maybe this will help.

the initial statement was UCLA had 1 title in 50 years

1953 to 2003 is 50 years

how many titles did we have between 1953 and 2003?

9.9 million for the ladies on a Sunday afternoon.
14.7 million for the mens on a Monday evening.

I wonder how many people who knew/know who Caitlin Clark is could name a single player on UConn or SDSU and how many people who knew/know who Adama Sanogo is could name a single player on Iowa or LSU.
Call me crazy (I am) but I seriously believe a standout NCAA female Basketball player is more "marketable" TODAY than a standout NCAA Basketball male player is.
The question is will NCAA women's basketball ever reach the popularity of NCAA men's basketball. Probably not but the 2012 and 2016 USA Olympic women's soccer teams say hello.

Thanks tdub. I think.

And Sparko, no one is denigrating any fan or team. But you seem to have a need for that narrative to play out, so have at it.

Where’s this year’s UConn fit on all time lists?

20 years from now on the “best teams of the last 20 years” articles, I bet they’re pretty high up, just cuz every tourney win was by like 15+, even tho they weren’t a big deal in the regular season

The math, if we want to call it that was worse between 1923 and 1988. But those end points don't make sense if you are looking at the continuum. We are damned lucky. There was a huge gulf of years for UCLA before Wooden and the 60s.

Thats not sexist either so don't pull that card. The truth of it is men tend to be a lot more interested in men's sports than women are in women sports

Once again, my exact words - "The question is will NCAA women's basketball ever reach the popularity of NCAA men's basketball. Probably not".

I guess that's mind blowing to you.
I'm sorry? You're welcome? I'm not sure what to say.
