Official Big 12 Game Thread #2 - vs. Iowa State

This was one game. We played like dogshit. No reason to assume a carry over effect.

This game doesn't represent us any more than our wins over msu, Tennessee, or Villanova.

When you’re winning, it allows fans to downplay weaknesses that have always been there. Losing magnifies those weaknesses. Moore and Garrett are painful to watch. Vick is wildly inconsistent. Dok is just not the toughest guy in the neighborhood.

The great thing: we’re a very good team. Have been all year. Played like shit last night. We’re not going to play as good of a team as Tennessee until the NCAA tournament. Streak continues.

Right. How often are, Dok not playing, Vick being that bad AND that careless with the ball, Lawson not able to make a shot, committing 24 turnovers all going to happen on the same night.

That was gonna be a tough game to win if everything was working for us. Since nothing was working, other than Grimes playing well (surprisingly), we got our asses kicked.

We've now seen how bad we can play at our worst, and it's pretty fucking bad. But we also know we are capable of playing MUCH better, as we've also shown.

Pissing on Dotson and Grimes is absolutely backward.

It's the upper class men who, right now, lack focus and toughness. If Dok and Vick show up every game...or at least suit up every game...we'll be much better.

Next 4 for KU are all very winnable games:
Vs. TCU
@ Baylor
Vs. Texas
@West Virginia

We need to go 4-0 in those games. Gotta hold serve at home and win all road games against the bottom half of the league.

Texas Tech has home vs OU and ISU and at Texas and Baylor. ISU has home vs. KSU and OSU and at Baylor and Texas Tech. It would be very ISU to follow a destruction of Kansas with a road turd at Baylor.

KU cames out in Game #2 of Big 12 play last year and got humiliated at home by Texas Tech in a game where we looked as uninterested and overmatched as we did last night.

It's no guarantee that because we still won last year that we will this year. But we have won in other seasons where we looked like dog shit at this point. At least we sucked on the road instead of at home. Slightly less embarassing.

Winning at WVU never feels "very winnable", but they're not as good this year.

If the ISU game doesnt fire up this team then nothing will. I expect to see them firing and aggressive against TCU.
