Royals being much smarter on the road. They are built for Oracle Field though. They are power centric this year. Two in a row.

So Royals either score 0 or score 10. Cool.

Anyone watching these Royals?
Is there any glimmer of anything besides Bobby Witt and Vinnie being decent?

Nah. Pitching has been OK. Greinke, Singer and Bubic before this IL stint have been fine. Lyles has been average as well. Pitched much better than the line last night. 8 innings, 3 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB and 3 Ks. Fine outing.

Offense has been putrid. They're getting nothing from Dozier, Massey and Isbel. Watters getting healthy is going to be nice for them.

(As an aside: the Royals are taking walks and hitting the ball hard. The results will come. But NO organization in baseball is better at shitting on an entire season of fan interest by starting like 3-14.)

Now now. Perhaps that was a 2023 and 2024 combined O/U?

The Royals hurt fan self esteem, they are that bad again. I went through a period when I had to tell them to leave my home until they got their shit together. Here they are again. Drunk. Disheveled. Not taking any responsibility. I've kicked them out again.

Quatraro turns out to be a really really really terrible hire. If you are 6-18, Salvy gets no rest and pinch hits. Fundamentally weak team in all phases. Reminds me of the Snickers coach. Hope they all got juice boxes today. Two on no outs. Brought out Reyes hitting.130. Salvy will be really rested on the plane.

Can't bunt, steal bases, field or hit.

Yeah I'm not going to grade that hire for quite a while. Especially with a "technically" new front office.

I wonder how the White Sox are like Pedro Grifol and their 7-18 record considering Grifol was a candidate in KC.

Will Bobby Witt Jr ever experience a winning season with the Royals?

Yeah. Probably 2 years away from that. They'll be something like 83-79 one year.

Correspondingly, will Bobby Witt Jr ever be a winning player?

We're 20%ish into his 2023, and his plate discipline does not appear to be on any sort of improved trajectory. He's looking VERY Hosmer-y...and the Royals really need a lot more than that.

Exactly. And 2-3 win players are great players. That’s what Sal’s been, on average. But the Royals need a couple who routinely put up 4+.

Witt is a Third Baseman, not a SS. His arm is and always will be too erratic. His fielding percentage has to be at the end of the line. He lost a game the other day with his arm.

Plate discipline is zilch across the board. The new rules call for you to be quick pitched. Strike-outs are killing teams without discipline. 12 yesterday. None of those had to be fielded. A rational actor would lay down some bunts and glue bats to shoulders while the youngsters figure it out. I rate Q as a cheap hire who is struggling with the job. Fundamentals are worse than any Royals team I have ever seen, including 1992. Could he turn it around? Not as a juice box rah-rah manager. These guys need a fire lit under their ass. I would call up some kids, release Dozier (Moore's legacy contract), and work on getting really good at OPS and lowering the ERA.

I think we just whiffed really really hard on our farm/draft pitching.
Whiffed kinda like the Royals are doing on the plate this season.

Yes. I think the prior (?) administration placed WAY too high of an emphasis on…certain profile traits that should not have had much bearing on baseball decision-making.
