That's odd, since returning, I've often wondered that about your account here.

Checks out…I mean, at the end of the day, I’m just here for the lulz.

But yea, you prob heard, I’ve been RaDiCaLiZeD!!!

It’s just that, considering how the moneyed interests dictate everything in this country, and the AOC types ending up not nearly as progressive as initially billed, and so little substantive difference at the end of the day between dems and pubs, among other details; they/them got me asking myself questions like:

is the system broken, or is it working precisely as designed?

(That, and things like “voting” just don’t seem to have the same worth ever since DC called it out in the Overrated thread)

The bullet points are pretty accurate. Accepting that and moving forward with better policy is hard.

The deficit was very high when Obama took office because of the great recession. It lowered each year his first several years - but then started going up again.

Biden also inherited an enormous deficit caused by COVID. Of course it has fallen now, but it's nowhere near the pre-Covid levels.

For context: At the end of the GW Bush admin., the GDP declined in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th quarters of 2008 by -2.7%, -1.9% and -8.2%, respectively.

In the last quarter of 2008, the US lost 2.1 million jobs.

Welcome to the presidency, Mr. Obama. (BTW, were you born here?)

I see this logic a lot and it is specious. The Republican President did such a crappy job preceding the Democratic one that they should get no credit for turning around a sinking economy. It is a silly argument. Bush ruined the economy and cratered what had been a balanced budget. Trump's economy pre-Covid was inherited from Obama (who gets no credit) and the puzzling zero level interest rates that they waited to fix until Biden was in office. But there was nothing behind Trump's economy. The trillions of debt for a stupid billionaire tax cut. The gutted regulatory authorities which were going to drive an ecological disaster we are confronting today. The Fox Conn deals that went nowhere. Border walls of waste.

The broader point is that those could have mitigated the downturns and kept the impact low didn’t do their job. Instead they did the proverbial looting-from-a-burning-house. (cf. Bush tax cuts of the early 2000s).

Maybe you should have stopped kissing Putin's ass. The Ukraine war has crippled the supply. And maybe you should support green energy too so your hypocrisy won't sting your private places.

Good bread. Independent bread. Pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps bread.

American bread.
