KU at kstate Official Game Thread
Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
Lately our slow starts are good for about the first 25-30 minutes of game time.
Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
If not for the technical on BW and the late half FT's, we would have scored around 20 points in the first half last night.
Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
I don't think we have slow starts or off shooting nights. That's who we are. We just struggle to score.
I only came to kick some ass...

Folks, let me tell you how little I enjoy watching this team. Let me tell you after every single game. I watch every single game. I don't enjoy it. Folks.

Yeah we struggle to score as a whole, but particularly out of the gate.
If our scoring rate for the rest of the game was the same as the first few minutes, our final scores for many games would be even less than k state.

PhD is probably right, I think. We just struggle to score, or we're at best streaky. It's just frustrating because we almost always start in a lull, so every game it's "here we go again."
It's also frustrating because this team has given us some of the best shooting performances of the Self era and many of the worst.

Streaky is a good way to describe it. If CB and Ochai are on at the same time, there's not many teams that can beat KU.

Ochai’s either on, or leaving everything short, so his shooter’s touch gives it a nice soft bounce off the front of the rim.
I guess he’s at least consistent in that sense.

Does Och remind of Svi? Shows a lot of flashes of why he's going to get drafted but doesn't show it consistently every night (sweet looking J and can hit the pull up). Could stand to be more aggressive. Lacks first step and side-to-side quickness to make him a first rounder.
Svi was drafted 2nd Round Pick 47. ESPN's latest mock has Och going 2nd Round Pick 46.

Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
Svi was several inches taller, which prob makes a difference when evaluating nba wings.
Och listed at 6’5” may be even more generous than Svi listed at 6’8”.

Yeah it's not perfect, but they'll both play the 2 in the league.
Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
I admit I don’t watch a ton of nba, but how important is a specific position designation any more? Isn’t this supposed to be the era of positionless basketball? For the 2-4 spots in particular.

i’d take Svi over Och all day, every day
i like Och, i’m just not seeing what some are as far as next level attributes

Not as much as it used to, but not everyone in the league is 6'8" to 6'10".

I understand your downer attitude towards anything associated with this particular team, but Och has been quite a bit better than Svi was as a junior. In fact, advanced stats suggest that Och is having a better season than Svi ever had here.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 1:40 pm i’d take Svi over Och all day, every day

It is also a way different league, because there are eras where Svi doesn't belong on an NBA roster.
Re: KU at kstate Official Game Thread
Junior Ochai is better than junior Svi though.
I'd expect that trend to continue if Ochai returned.
