Spend less money. I am fairly certain that your average person could find at least $100 frivolous dollars a month in the expenditures of nearly every American who states that they are living paycheck to paycheck. We've had this same conversation a dozen times.

you do realize that prescription meds, namely opioids, are a much bigger issue than weed, don’t you?

talk about virtue signaling…
Worked in a methadone clinic for several years. Well aware, but the weed saps motivation and ambition, which is the point I was speaking to.

Who knows, maybe if he didn’t have to work 3 jobs, he could have a better relationship with his family and everything!

Nah, F that. The important thing is the economy.
If that “materially better” option you’re referencing is Socialism, save your breath. Not buying.

Well of course you aren’t buying!

You think you should have economic buying power just cuz you work 3 jobs. That’s rich! Well, not like actually rich, but you know what I mean.

Now get back to work before you ever stop and actually question the system, much less get the chance to spend more time with your family!

Glad twocoach is on Q’s side too.

Inequality isn’t systemic failure, it’s personal failure. That $100 would sure be enough to lift anyone out of poverty!

Heaven forbid, a citizen of the wealthiest country ever might get to spend $100 on something that makes them actually enjoy life.

Fortunately, poor folks never get sick or hurt or encounter any other emergencies either!

Yeah, one of my best friends is super intelligent, and wildly successful in his field (Systems Integration) and smokes an insane amount of weed.

Doesn’t really fall into this broad generalization

I have 5 degrees and also make six figures, despite never having partaken. All that proves is variation within a population, not overall trends - or, in your terms, “broad strokes.”

On one hand, you get a successful pothead who is happy with his life; on the other you get an underachieving malcontent like Q. Which one is representative of the population? It all depends on the individual interpreting the data.

But I don’t need to explain that to you, what with your advanced degrees and all.

thanks for making my point for me

now quit painting with broad strokes and we’ll be ok

everyone’s body chemistry is unique, and is affected by foreign substances differently. you’re experiences are likely heavily influenced by people you see in your practice…people who more often than not have other extenuating life circumstances (otherwise they wouldn’t be seeking treatment), yet you seem to be on some virtue quest railing against marijuana…a natural substance that has been consumed by humans, literally, for centuries

similarly, my experiences have shaped my view…those that i know that have consumed recreationally or habitually are very successful in their respective careers

again, the truth is that everyone is different. for some, marijuana use is detrimental…for others that’s not the case at all

I’ve little regard for people who rely on substances that distort reality as a crutch to help them deal with it. Sympathy? Yes. Respect for their choices? No.

The chicken-or-egg question with regard to weed will always be hotly contested because human nature makes it difficult, if not impossible to quantify. Too many other variables, including morals, values, cultural background, biochemistry, and past trauma will always muddy the waters.
