LB is the weakest group on the team. But, going in I thought it would be DB, so we'll see how it looks season by season.

Potter's just the kind of kid that the KU's have to take a chance on, put weight on him, and hope he turns into a P5 player. Looks like his body couldn't handle the weight gain because his feet are now concrete blocks.

Potter has been bad, though, but not sure he's a worse option than Nick Chanel.
Sorry. Guilty. Not a fan of Potter at all. Something about him rubs me the wrong way.

He was slow but at least he hit people and got them to the ground. I mean really that whole LB room isn't that good and I hope this coaching staff gently tells a few of those guys PT may not be available next year and that it may be best to 'move on' to some place else.
if this is where KU is now, it happened a lot sooner than i was expecting

Vernon also said the big check will be delivered along with the B1G invite. Timeline: before Thanksgiving, no later than 1000 years from now.

Plays all 3 spots well. Betts has been underwhelming. Don't hear his name often if ever.

Pieces are there on defense. Just have to put it all together.

JD has a QBR of 88.6 in last 2 games. Current Big 12 leader has a QBR of 74. He's been that good.

I sometimes confuse Potter with Sorenson watching the close-outs.

Sounds like Neal will be out on Saturday. This could get ugly.

The linebackers are the problem. The safety had 15 tackles against TCU mainly because the linebacker mostly Potter was not in position to make the tackle. Potter had two. Potter is not great but against TCU he was below average like way below average.

My excuse train:

Defense: clearly depth. Transfer portal hurt and an injury or two is killer.

Special teams: better kickers change things here. Kick coverage has been average. No reason it can't be better, though, considering return game is above average.

ST has been an underwhelming unit. But a lot of that comes with roster depth. Starters shouldn't play ST. But yet KU has quite a few on ST.

Just heard the exact numbers this morning. KU has 68 players on the roster that are freshmen or sophomores. That makes us the 4th-youngest team in FBS. So the improvement we're seeing now is laying a foundation for an extremely young team. And it gives Leipold and crew some leeway with the 2022 recruiting class due to the odd timing of taking over in Lawrence.

I would gladly take a handful of transfers, whether FBS or JUCO that have 4 years to play 3, that have a chance to immediately add to the 2 deep chart and can be here for Spring ball.
