We came dangerously close to food shortages then? Where? What?
Man, my memory has faded quickly.

Wouldn't take many "essential" workers to decide a virus is too dangerous and stay home for it to happen. We are lucky. Lucky we have some amazing people who risked their health to go to work. And lucky the virus wasn't much more deadly.

no, we didn’t come dangerously close

some people panic-purchased a few items, resulting in shortages of tp and hand sanitizer…and maybe short-term shortages of meat

otherwise there was plenty of food to be had
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

This logic is better suited for an argument FOR spare tires

Absolutely.

Going to need a spare tire more times than a gun.

That's why there are spares in both of my vehicles.

Thankfully it's not an either or choice for me.

Not just about our country, but some reading on the pandemic and it's impact on various aspects of food supply.

It wasn't just toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and lysol wipes.

Good luck on the pond!

When the next pandemic rolls around you better hope the truck drivers keep driving, and the grocery store shelf stockers keep stocking, or I have a feeling you'll be changing your tune about food shortages.

As you can see with baby formula, it doesn't take long for a serious shortage to occur.

You don't think there were supply chain issues caused by the pandemic?

Do you think they could have been much worse if this were a more deadly virus?

I do.
