If we DO have more options, let’s explore them, instead of doubling down on the same stagnant lineup until the narrative in March once again becomes, hey maybe we should try throwing our bench guys into a bunch of minutes in the tournament to try and be more athletic and otherwise avoid loosing by 34 again
They're all vaccinated this year.
That’s great!

Though, I’m trying to remember how much the “play TGIF” chatter was about utilizing depth in lieu of guys out sick, or utilizing TGIF in an attempt to be more athletic than what the starters gave us.

the TEAM might be better with him in a reduced role
That's what I'd call an overreaction to one game.
which? my take, or the take that he should already be getting CB’s minutes?
That the team may be better with Jalen having a reduced role. I get where it's coming from, but we have one game vs. all of last season. Same with Och being a 1st team AA--I get where it's coming from and I'm hopeful, but we have 3 truncated seasons of other evidence.

By overreacting, maybe I mean more, 'from this one game we can tell that this is a B/B- performance and we'll get exponentially better because we beat a team we know will be around the top 25'.

We can make a pretty educated guess knowing what we've seen and b/c of our high BBIQ but the 2019 team looked awfully dominant early on. ( this roster is better than that what - but imjustsayin )

I brought up 2019 with a friend, but the shitshow that followed killing Sparty that season would ruin any team.

Grimes sucked, but was a distant 3rd place for causes of that implosion.

I'd agree - but from what I remember, we 'were better off anyways' with the 2nd place cause of implosion - which would make it, from the kcrim gallery, the distant 3rd place.

Looking back, I think Vick had a mental breakdown of sorts.
You definitely can still blame him for it ( like I'd blame Osaka or Simone ) but I don't think he was right in the head.
Also, if we remember, some thought Grimes would be our best player preseason.

Even so, we were a top 10 team with all players green lit -- though we struggled against some teams offensively.

This team shows more potential than that.

Probably don't need to go past the first 2. Maybe after you go with relying too much on freshmen guards--perhaps Bill thought Malik would be back.

Yea, pretty sure Vick was and is legit bipolar or something. Wasn’t “not taking his meds” at least rumored?

But he was on a short leash either way.

Heck, how often does a coach NOT wanna welcome back a senior-to-be?

Maybe that was all there was to it.

But I thought regardless of/even before the covid news, there was chatter about how this team played too slow and was vulnerable to getting torched by a more athletic team in the tourney, so Self wanted to try and get our faster bench guys more play

Jalen finna be a double double machine

No better guards and no better team than this.

We did get em after a lengthy COVID absence - and Scott Drew made sure everyone knew that - but we were a better team than a 30 point beatdown to USC.

Meh, that was Baylor’s second game back after like a month long vacation

Heck, they barely beat a bad Iowa state team right before us.

But I think we can all agree it’s best to just never talk about that season again.

So what’s Self say about this season!

“when we go to the bench we're probably faster than we are with our starters, so that was encouraging to see”
