I remember before we played Baylor a few of you tried to argue with me when I said Scott drew was a good coach. As if winning a national championship wasn't proof enough, he won a share of the league in a rebuilding year, despite having quite a few injury issues. And was named conference coach of the year. Just another example of a time randylahey was right

I would have also gone with Adams since it is a conference award. Tech was in line for the #1 seed in the Big 12 tourney all the way up to the very last 2 games.
I come back to us winning a share of the league without the preseason conference POY.

Not only did Tech not win the league, they pissed down their leg. That matters!
I hear you on the first thing, but, if we are being honest, I wasn't blown away by Bill Self down the stretch. Clear favorites heading into conference in January, and we blew the two game lead. That to me is a much bigger pissing down the leg than Tech.

if HCBS were to retire after this season, HCSD would likely be on our short list.

Pack is a helluva shooter/good player, but he plays for a shitty team; players in scenarios like that should be second-team, max.

CB ought to go to KC (and beyond) and prove that he should have been first-team.

That is very not true.

I'd probably go with Mike Vernon being at the top of the list, though.

Giggle. He wouldn't be in the same room as the list.

Can't wait to see the list of possible successors his "source" gives him.

randy thinks every Jayhawk, including the Hall of Fame coach currently in charge, but Yesufu sucks.

it seems pretty obvious, unfortunately, that Self is just held to an absurdly higher standard than any other coach in conference

i guess that should be a compliment, but it also means he gets hosed for this kind of award too often because he’s just doing what’s expected
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I understand Bill not getting it in years we're bursting at the seams with talent,* but come on. This team is extremely mediocre by the standards of the last 30 years.

* I would note, though, that this is also within the head coach's job description.

And if we think that Remy's issue is his knee, then it's even more remarkable.

just saying if you compare self and scott drew the past 3 or so years.... scott drews resume looks better. I know its rare to bring an unbiased point of view to a KU board. I think self is one of the greatest coaches to ever do it, and I think hes a better coach than scott drew, by a margin. but scott drew is doing a really good job with baylor. its undeniable. so anyone that wants to argue that scott drew isn't a good coach is a damn fool

Personally I like that Baylor has had so much success lately. maybe some of you are threatened by it and don't want to discuss it, but you could argue they've been the most successful program overall the past several seasons. its really good for the big 12. makes our league look strong having another legit contender in the league every season. KU hasnt won a title in 14 years now, so Baylor getting that one last season backs up the big 12's talk of "being the best league in basketball"

I'm all for the success of the league and would love to see several teams make the sweet 16 and maybe a couple go beyond

facts. self is almost expected to win the league every year. For self to win coach of the year we have to be flat out dominant, and hope no surprise team has a "much better than expected" type of season

I don’t think you’ll find a rational fan who thinks the streak would have been 14 if we’d played round robin the whole time.

That said, why does it have to be Scott Drew and those bible thumpers? Would much rather be battling Barnes and those dudes again, or Beard/Tech or even Okie State.
