How much does character factor in?

Do GMs really consider it? If there’s a choice between filling a certain position with, say, a pick between an elite young talent with a sketchy past, and a more average talent but walks on water, who they going with?

I think it helps guys extend their careers more than helps a young guy get a shot. talent is what gives young guys chances. but character is what keeps jared dudley/kyle korver on the end of the bench over guys like jr smith or a gilbert arenas

At the very least, it takes a lot more than talent to capitalize on an NBA opportunity. The examples each way are endless.
