Wrong board, but...that passport isn't as good now as it was a few months ago.

Heard concerning passport. Isn't this 20-21 basketball thread?

Sure. But could an American OAD even play in Spain or Italy if he wanted to?

Right, I get that. How about G-league, or whatever that is called now?

I think I probably feel the exact opposite on that. Going to a HBCU seems genuinely appealing, especially right now with everything else going on.
I guess he did say in an interview in Nov 2019 that Howard was probably the school recruiting him the hardest, because most schools backed off thinking he was going pro. Only schools he mentioned were Howard and Oregon. It was just odd timing for me to take that serious and not just an attention grabber for his one college year. One top prospect says the idea of going to an HBCU is appealing and 2 days later a different 5* commits to one.

Well i think now is a unique time in that there is a lot of racially motivated activism going on. Personally i think it is kind of cool to support a HBCU for a top prospect since historically that doesnt happen very often. There is a lot of campaigns going on for black people (and everyone in general) to support black owned businesses and things of that nature so maybe he felt like it would be a cool thing to do. And yes, it is an attention grabber to get more publicity for HBCUs, but i think it is a genuine move and not necessarily coming from a bad place or should be viewed negatively. Did another player possibly give him the idea? Sure maybe, but does it really matter?

Disclaimer: how sure are we that this kid will even get cleared and/or that there will even be college basketball this season for it to even matter where he chooses to go?

MaCio Teague coming back.

Going to be interesting to see how not having any workouts/pre-draft process is going to play a role in players withdrawing by Monday.

If Jared Butler returns too Baylor has to be the B12 favorites on paper, roster wise.
Of course, that's without factoring Self v Drew.

If Butler comes back, I would possibly put Baylor as the favorite to win it all. Not just the Big 12.

Yep.

Baylor was in the running for a 1 seed.
They get Butler back, they have Teague, Davion Mitchell and top 25 recruit Langston Love at guard and have returning starters Mark Vital and 5 star Kendall Brown as wings.
Not sure who lines in at their big forward/center - I guess Tristan Clark since Gillespie is gone.

Pretty nasty.

That sounds like a unit that would get hot in January, then loose 3 of 5 to end the season.

Yes. Also interesting to see how they weigh the possibility of not even having a college season.

For all the backlash about the ncaa ruining college basketball, there sure are a lot of ncaa players choosing to return to school next season to play.

Does anyone really think there will be a '20-'21 college basketball season? I mean, it seems pretty slim it will start in Oct/Nov. January seems really unlikely.

I'd give it, oh, 10/1 odds of there being a full college basketball season.

Watch the ncaa cancel the season not cuz of anything related to Covid, but cuz they suddenly discover some widespread violations of The Rules.

Perhaps they'll shut it down so as to try to avoid the Pac 12 athletes finally (and justifiably) wising up.
