Ask Flurrida how a tourism-dependent economy is going to cope with losing willing service workers.

Almost nobody has an issue with immigrants. It's ILLEGAL immigrants that fuck up our system

Or has our system stealthily been redesigned to depend on cheap under the table labor

By who? And for what purpose?

You keep making these points that, ah, I don't think you intend to make!

being emotional does that
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I dunno, maybe because they don't like their own state's government attacking their livelihoods, their voting rights, their kids' educations, their daughters' and sisters' right to control their own bodies, the constant scapegoating of immigrants and working class people and LGBTQ+ people. Tax and economic policies that work for the wealthy and against the lower- and middle-classes.

Just some thoughts, spitballing here.

It hasn’t been stealthily (re)designed to depend on cheap under the table labor. It has been openly designed to depend on cheap under the table labor.

There’s an easy way to solve the problem of unauthorized workers. Punishing employers. Until the CEOs of meat processing plants go to jail the problem with unauthorized workers will continue.

BTW, you reveal your utter ignorance when you use the phrase “illegal immigrant”. Are you talking about someone who entered the country illegally, entered the country legally but has overstayed their authorization to remain or is legally present but accepting employment they are not eligible to?

Maybe you’re just referring to non-white people, as a principle.

Among a number of other things, not honoring driver's licenses issued in other states, and charging family members and friends with felonies is among the most offensive parts of the new law.

This is only a partial list:

Invalidates out-of-state driver's licenses issued to "unauthorized immigrants."

Force arrested adults and juveniles with an immigration detainer (an “immigration hold”) to provide their DNA to the state.

Makes it a third-degree felony for anyone who knowingly or who reasonably should know that they are transporting immigrants who entered the country illegally into Florida. Transporting a minor is a second-degree felony.

Expands the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s counter-terrorism efforts to include immigration matters.

Appropriates tax dollars to be used for DeSantis' “unauthorized alien transport program,” the program he began when he flew about 50 Venezuelan migrants in two charter planes from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

JFC, the vast majority of people negatively affected by a requirement for ID to vote are those who have no money, have no means of transportation and/or are disabled. But they are US citizens and that alone should make them eligible to vote.

oddly enough, the constitution actually guarantees such a thing:

Fifteenth Amendment
Section 1
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Section 2
The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

and

Twenty-Sixth Amendment
Section 1
The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.

Section 2
The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It in fact DOES make them eligible to vote. The Constitutional right to vote is MUCH clearer than, say, the Constitutional right to buy, own, possess and use guns (particularly outside the scope of participation in a "well regulated Militia").

The Constitution says they have to be well-regulated voters with access to background checks who can vote only when mustered-in. Or something. No?

Trump has already proven that these morons do not care if you steal from them while looking them right in the eyes. There is a line of grifters like DeSantis just chomping at the bit to leverage the stupidity to squeeze every penny possible out of them.

Trump set us back 25 years, easily.
